Situated on the shores of Lake Ontario in the east of Canada, Toronto has a semi-continental climate with cooler air blowing in from across the lakes. Although the summer months can be warm and humid, winters are always cold and snowfall is to be expected, especially at the beginning of the year. With April sitting between two seasons, temperatures range from chilly to mild depending on the time of day.
In April, Toronto sees highs of just 11°C and lows of 4°C, making it a cold but bearable month to visit the city. When you pack for your holiday, make sure you bring plenty of warm layers, and a waterproof jacket in case of rain. With 11 wet days over the course of the month, it’s likely you will experience a shower or two. It may even snow at this time of year, although snowfall is less common in April than it is in January and February.
