Great holiday.
The hotel itself is spotless, with really lovely staff. As we didn’t go with kids, we normally opted for the rooftop sunbeds with the hot tub. Children aren’t allowed up there so it was lovely and peaceful. It did have the typical fighting for sunbeds downstairs, which we didn’t care to ruin our holiday for, but that is something to bear in mind. The days we did lounge at the pool, we moved towels of empty sunbeds that no one had actually used. We did not use the entertainment as it’s all for children, so we went into the nightlife and the shops. It is so busy and so much to see, so it was great. Salou is beautiful and at night it is buzzing, so it’s a really great atmosphere. Go to the Irish bars to witness great singing and the happiest people I’ve ever met! The food at the hotel was disappointing, which was part of the reason we went out to eat most days/nights despite the fact we had paid for the hotel’s food. I’m not a picky eater, but I found the food to be moderate at best. The worst part was queuing to get in, and then queuing to wait for your food, only to find it had all gone by the time you got to it. The selections were all different, however I didn’t find it very nice. It is clean and many people seemed happy with it, so perhaps I’m being picky. I found it bland and tasteless. I never felt full. There is so many amazing restaurants outside the hotel however, like a steak house just around the corner that you have to book to eat in but wow, it is incredible. There was also many different tapas, pizzas and steakhouses to choose from on the beach front which were amazing. We went to Cambrilles for a day, but it was a complete waste of time. We got the bus but didn’t realise it was only worth going if the markets were on. So check for that, maybe it is worth it. It is quite a treck away from the hotel for markets anyway, but if you love them then it’s for you. They’re not on everyday, so check before going or you’ll end up miserable and tired like we were haha. We did a few trips we booked with our TUI rep, which were horrendous. I will not book trips with them again. Nothing to do with the hotel I know, but if you’re going with TUI, do not go on the trips. They sound too good to be true, and they are. We went to Barcelona Zoo but it just made me sad, the animals didn’t look happy. Not that they aren’t cared for, obviously I couldn’t know that, I just got bad vibes from it. I suppose no animals look happy being in capture. It has put me off from going to zoos in the future. The hotel is opposite to Portaventura which is great. Unless you don’t get a fast pass, then you will queue all day to go on two rides. Spend the money to get on quick, then the thrills are amazing. Also, go to a shop in Salou that sells the tickets for a reasonable price, don’t buy them at the theme park. We got a great deal for two days for both parks and it was worth it. We then spent the extra money at the park for the fast passes which weren’t cheap but we love rides so it was worth it to us. Plenty of rides for kids too so great for the whole family. I haven’t made it sound great, but it really was a lovely holiday. The beds being really comfy was a massive plus. We made a few mistakes in bookings etc, and the food being meh was disappointing, but apart from that it was great. I see why people go every year, friendly and reliable.
H10 SOLARIS = Worst management ever = your worst choice
This is the worst choice unless you like junk food and fight for sunchair while in holiday. Hôtel management is completly incompétent. I tried many hôtel in Spain but this one is the worst ever. in such a wonderfull country like spain you have many other Nice choices. You ll loose your money and your holiday in this hôtel. Hope this advice will help you avoid such an owfull experience.
Lovely stay
Stayed here in may for 7 days half board. Hotel was clean, well located, in good repair and well looked after. Short walk to the shops, restaurants, bars etc Food was good and plentiful but at busy times it was a bit hectic and queues to get into restaurant. Cups were not stocked up well so was a scout around to find everything needed for tea and coffee but mostly the stay was good. Pool was nice and there was always spare sun loungers. There was also an indoor pool, gym and saunas for free use. We were very impressed with Salou as a resort and would visit again.
