In the Algarve region of southern Portugal, Aquashow Park Hotel is a family-friendly hotel in a quiet rural area near the coast. The hotel has its own water park, with several chutes and slides for both adults and children to enjoy. It's also a short drive from the popular seaside resort of Quarteira, which has a sandy beach and plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel has modern interiors and colourful architecture, with tiled floors in the rooms to help keep you cool. There's a buffet restaurant for morning and evening meals, as well as two bars serving drinks throughout the day. Set in its palm-filled gardens, the hotel has a main outdoor pool and a separate shallower kids' pool. There's also a sun terrace where you can soak up the rays with drink in hand. To relax out of the sun, you can head to the indoor pool, or make the most of the heated whirlpool and hotel spa. For those who prefer to keep fit on holiday, there's also a gym where you can work up a sweat. When it's time to hit the sand, you can head to Quarteira. The Blue Flag beach is known for its calm waters and is popular with families. It's also backed by a pedestrianised promenade, so you can take a stroll along the shore before popping into one of the seafront cafÈs for a snack. As well as plenty of places to eat and drink, Quarteira also has a bustling nightlife with a choice of bars and clubs.
For those who enjoy a few rounds of golf on holiday, there are several 18-hole courses within easy reach of the hotel, the nearest being 1km away. There's a local supermarket 2km from the hotel, so you can stock up on any essentials during your stay. In the centre of Quarteira, which is 3km away, you can enjoy local Portuguese food or pick up some gifts and souvenirs in town's shopping centre. The beach at Quarteira is also 3km from the hotel, and has plenty of shaded spots to relax and catch a Mediterranean sunset. For a family day trip, you can visit Praia de Rocha Baixinha beach, which is 17km away. Here you'll find several beachfront bars to grab drinks and food, as well as plenty of sand to build castles with the kids.
There are two bars at Aquashow Park, one of which is in the pool area and serves drinks and snacks until the early hours. You can enjoy a selection of local and international food for breakfast and dinner at the buffet restaurant, where outdoor seating is also available.
For some competitive fun, you can take a short drive to the local tennis centre in Quarteira, or to the mini golf course that's within driving distance.
All rooms have individually controlled air conditioning and a TV with local channels. There's also a minibar and a fridge to store drinks and snacks.

Fabulous Break
We had a fabulous stay at the Aquashow Park Hotel and water park. We just had so much from the moment we got there to moment we left. The water park is literally next door and was full of loads of slides which varies from family fun to bit more extreme. Loads for the family to do. The hotel was lovely, reception very helpful, rooms (all hotel actually) we’re clean. The room was standard, not big not small was big enough for a family of 3. Had everything we needed. House keeping went into room everyday and made beds and provided towels, toilet roll if needed. It could be noisy at night but we expected this at a family hotel. I would take ear plugs just incase you struggle to sleep. We had no complaints about the room. Breakfast was fine, plenty of choice, you would find something you like. The typical English breakfast was not great but you could get parts of one. Overall was good. The pool was lovely we spent a good few hours there chilling after being at water park, enough sun beds, bar had good selection of drinks and cocktails and you could order food. We did eat here at night instead of going out a few nights and it was nice. We took a 10min Uber up to the marina and had evening meals, would recommend as it was lovely there and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The beach is literally the other side of the marina if you wanted to do that. During the summer holidays I imagine this hotel would be a lot busier and so would the water park so just bear in mind. I am a big tea drinker so I took a travel Kettle and so glad I did because you could have a nice cuppa while sitting in balcony. We would definitely recommend this hotel, we had a great time and loads of fun.
The GOOD and the BAD
GOOD: 1. Very friendly staff, went out of their way to help us. 2. Cleanliness of the hotel spaces and room. 3. Breakfast, lots on offer. 4. Wine list, wine price by the bottle, and staff knowledge of the wine. 5. Pool area for kids, lots for them to do. 6. Soft play area, the kids loved it. 7. Cheese, Salami, Olives and Crackers. BAD: 1. No kettle in room to make a coffee (wife was fuming) 2. Balcony area light cannot be turned off, it shuts off at midnight, so light will shine through into your room until 12am, regardless of curtains. 3. 4 Euros for a 330ml can of Coke Zero, that is absolutely outrageous. 4. No local shops in walking distance with a child, so you are forced to pay hotel prices for water (3 euros a bottle). 5. Dinner, the green vegetables were boiled until they were yellow, same for the chicken and fish. Nothing super healthy, no noodles or stir fried veg. 6. 10 Euros for a Gordons Gin and Tonic...absurd. All in all, you win some, you lose some, but our kids seemed to enjoy it a lot. Would we stay again? Unlikely with them only offering half board as we were getting crucified on drinks prices.
Management
Make sure you check the dates of the Aqua park opening before booking. Unable to do their job at management level rude, obnoxious, flippant, uncaring, bad attitude and service. Diana Santos is the most awful person I have ever spoken to.
