You will get Covid at this hotel, be warned

May 2022 | F1126NYstephaniej

It makes me sad to write this review, but I feel I must share what happened to me at this hotel to warn other travellers. My experience started great – beautiful hotel, amazing facilities, wonderful food and drink. The day before I was due to leave, I found out I had Covid and then subsequently was unable to leave the country, and this is where my poor experience at this hotel begins. From the second I presented with Covid, the staff were unhelpful, I couldn’t get any clear information on what to do, and I was charged a fortune to stay an additional 10 days at this hotel (in line with Dubai’s strict isolation requirements). I was moved to a shabby room, and then from there things just got worse and worse. I was left without basic necessities such as toilet roll, water, clean towels, and other hygiene items. I had to beg for these on a daily basis, and sometimes items would arrive and sometimes they wouldn’t (I didn’t receive any clean towels until day 8, for example). I called reception repeatedly to speak to a Manager, all requests were denied or my calls never returned. The Covid safe practices at this hotel are severely lacking and not enforced, and they do not have basic processes in place for people that do find themselves in this situation. After leaving, I contacted the hotel 3 times with my complaint and did not receive a response until that third follow up, 3 weeks later. The generic response told me that no one else had complained and that it was out of their control. I find this completely unsatisfactory – the Covid safe practices and treatment of people in quarantine is absolutely within the hotel control, and I don’t believe other people haven’t complained (although even if that’s true, does it validate my poor treatment?!). Given Covid will be an ongoing issue, I suggested to them that they have better information available if someone presents with Covid, such as a pamphlet, and what about dropping off a daily care package for those in quarantine? These would be easy things to facilitate, however this suggestion in my complaint was ignored. Also given you are stuck in a room unable to utilise the facilities, the full room rate is just easy money for them! In summary, I would warn people to be cautious going to this hotel. Covid is rife, and if you find yourself in quarantine be prepared to pay the full room rate, be left vulnerable and alone, and ignored.

Good Value for Money Hotel

May 2022 | MARTCAN

We stayed for a short 2 night break in May 2022. Overall, we enjoyed our stay with the highlight being the food variety and quality. We were not expecting such a rich choice of selections in multiple dining periods as well as the quality and taste. I must congratulate the chefs and the Food & Beverage team. Also, the hotel is very clean with the common areas always tidy. Service and staff are attentive, though sometimes quite basic in their approach and feeling either tired or overwhelmed - cannot blame them given how busy the resort was. Several comments that I believe require attention and improvement: 1. Floor Corridors are very worn out, with multiple areas of walls either scratched, dirty or areas chipped off. Nothing too complicated to fix as it requires some basic maintenance. Same could be seen in certain areas of the room we stayed in. 2. Floor corridors - very dull white color - place some plants (even artificial) or some artwork to give a bit of color - feels like you are walking in the corridors of a hospital. 3. Kids facilities - though there is a good selection of slides and pools for kids to enjoy, what was strange to me that in the entire resort of approximately 750 rooms there is only one small playground for kids to play with 1 swing - 1 swing while probably there is 400 families with kids staying there 4. Kids Club - the smallest kids club I have ever seen in my life. Also, kids below 4 years not allowed even if accompanied by parents - something I really do not understand. 5. Beach - this is not something Hotel can change, however not a very good beach as lots of small stones. Seems like this was the construction sand used when the islands were being built so not really a beach if you ask me. Overall a good value for money hotel - as mentioned blown away by the food, drinks are decent. Staff is fine as well and hotel is well cleaned. Location not very attractive if you want to discover Dubai as a bit far out from areas and definitely only taxi/car to get around. Overall a good hotel and would stay again only if a good deal is found.
