Holidays at Dionysos, Rhodes, are all about carefree relaxation. Set amongst olive tree gardens, with a swim-up bar and iron bridges over the lagoon pool, there is a tranquillity you feel the moment you arrive. There is something beautiful to see around every corner, with candlelit lanterns, Grecian pots, and festooned pergolas. As well as the main saltwater pool, there's also a shaded freshwater lido and a shallow wading spot for youngsters.
Positioned on the Greek island of Rhodes, on its northern coastline, the hotel is a short walk from Ixia's long pebble beach (200m). So you'll be able to cool off in the Aegean sea at a moment's notice. It's also an excellent springboard for exploring Rhodes, with the historic Old Town just a 10 min taxi ride away.
Back at base, you've got plenty to keep you entertained, with aqua aerobics, tennis courts, mini golf, arcade games, table tennis, football, and a playground with a trampoline for your little adventurers. And when the sunsets, enjoy traditional Greek singing and dancing, karaoke, and magic shows under atmospheric lighting.
We hope you've brought your appetite because the hotel's Half Board invites you to indulge in either lunch or dinner across three fabulous a la carte restaurants. Enjoy Italian flavours and authentic Greek recipes at Maistros from 1pm to 9:15pm, or sink your teeth into fresh fish and meat courses at the Grill from 6pm to 11:30pm. And if you want a change of flavour, tuck into tacos and fajitas from 6:30pm to 10:30pm at the Mexican diner, Don Dionysos. All dishes are made-to-order using Mediterranean market produce, with a kids menu and highchairs for younger guests.
You'll find snack bars to fill your boots during the day too. Make a beeline to Cafe Greco for the fresh waffles, crepes, ice cream and barista coffee. The banana and chocolate pancakes are to die for! There's even a souvlaki stand open 11am to 5pm, where you can order up a mouthwatering ham or pork pitta kebab with salad, fries and a generous helping of tzatziki. For sublime cocktails, music and live sports, head to the Apollo Lounge between 10am to 2am. Or enjoy a bevvy from the swim-up bar from 10am to 6pm.
When it comes to breakfast, the Amvrosia buffet lays on an enormous spread between 7am to 10am, with everything from fresh fruit, pastries and cereals alongside your traditional eggs, bacon, sausage, and cold meats and cheese. If you want to pack a picnic for a day trip, the hotel supermarket sells a selection of sandwiches, drinks and snacks.
Dionysos has a beautiful selection of well-appointed rooms, including twins, spacious superior doubles with a kingsize bed, and studios with a separate kitchenette. Each room features air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, a dining area, a fridge, satellite TV, a hairdryer, a bath, tea and coffee-making facilities, a desk, a direct dial phone and a safe deposit box. Choose from a balcony or terrace and a sea or garden view.
When you can pull yourself away from the serenity of the hotel, the UNESCO World Heritage site is a must-see. It's the oldest medieval town in Europe, known for its winding alleys and Gothic architecture. And for boat tours and shopping, check out the Mandraki harbour. It's a great spot to catch the sunsets against breathtaking views of the skyline. For instant access to a great choice of low-key bars, traditional Greek bakeries and seafront restaurants, take a short walk from the hotel into Ixia.
