Set in a prime location overlooking the ocean, Iberostar Grand El Mirador provides a tranquil stay on Tenerife's Costa Adeje coastline. Staying here puts you a short walk from the sandy shoreline of Blue Flag accredited Playa el Duque. This adults-only hotel has a hacienda villa-style exterior with a moat-like swimming pool wrapping around the front. Cubed loggias at the front of the hotel allow you to sit and watch the waves through arched viewing windows. Some of the rooms here also have sea views. Days at Iberostar Grand El Mirador can be spent lounging about the pool or down by the beach. Poolside cabanas allow you to rest in the shade, while the all-day bar can provide fresh drinks whenever you need . There's also a rooftop sun terrace to help you catch the rays. In the evening you can dine with views of the sunset in the hotel's outdoor seating areas. The hotel provides live musical entertainment every day. During your stay at Iberostar Grand El Mirador, you'll have access to the spa. You can unwind in its sauna and Turkish bath, or perhaps book in for a massage. There's a gym here too if you're keen to stay active.

The nearest centre to the hotel is La Caleta, which is 3km away. There's a well-maintained path from Playa el Duque beach to this small fishing village, where you'll find a few bars and restaurants. In the opposite direction, Playa de las AmÈricas is 8km from Iberostar Grand El Mirador. Here you'll find a much livelier scene with surfers on the waves, bustling streets and a buzzing nightlife. If you'd like to see more of the island's landscape head to Teide National Park, which is home to one of the world's biggest volcanoes, or take to the seas on an organised boat trip around the island.

Enjoy breakfast and dinner by the pool in the hotel's buffet restaurant. You'll also have the option to eat dinner in the hotel's two a la carte restaurants, which serve Mediterranean and Canarian dishes. There's also a snack bar and cocktail/coffee bar if you want to refuel between meals.

There are lots of activities on the complex to help you stay active.

The first thing that hits you when you arrive ( as we did by private transfer ) is the guard on the gate, we couldn’t get in to the complex let alone reception until he’d verified our name. Once through that you’re into a gorgeous arrivals area where we were met but a member of staff of immediately took our bags and escorted us to reception. The check in was smooth and painless and as much as I tried to use my limited Spanish the staff all spoke perfect English. Once registration was complete we were shown around the complex and told what and where everything inc. the vast pool area and gym, the numerous restaurants and snack bar, the main bar area, Spa, communal room … etc. We had a sea view 2nd floor junior suite and quite frankly it was incredible. Beautifully appointed, clean and incredibly spacious. Walk in wardrobe, bathroom with his and her sinks separate shower and toilet with b day both with frosted glass doors, the bed was huge and is made fresh and with a turnover service every day that leaves complimentary chocolates makes fora stunning ambience; but then you have a lovely large lounge area with sofa, 2 chairs, coffee table and recessed cupboard with wall mounted large screen UHD TV and tea and coffee making facilities inc. Nespresso machine. The connected private balcony is also well appointed with dining and chairs and also another sofa with coffee table. It’s all immaculate! Everything is in exactly the same vain, incredibly well appointed and immaculately clean. I could go on about he food being lovely whichever restaurant you eat in and the breakfast - serviced buffet style is like nothing else. Seriously my wife even had Swordfish ceviche one morning …… we stayed for 10 nights and had a completely different breakfast every morning. I’ll cut my fanboy ramblings short but to say what actually tops this hotel and takes it well over the 5 stars you can award it is the staff. It doesn’t matter who you are or what their roles are everyone is incredible courteous, polite and always has a smile on their face. Nothing is too much trouble and in many cases is acted upon immediately. The staff are without doubt this hotels chief asset. In summary, we came here for our 30th wedding anniversary and could not have picked a better place, so much so we’re booking again for next year.

We stayed at the Iberostar Grand El Mirador from 1-10 June and it was a fabulous vacation! This was our 2nd time there and we've already booked again for next year. I rarely write reviews but feel they have definitely earned the accolades. The grounds are amazing and the location is perfect. The hotel is beautiful from the moment you drive in to the stone rotunda with a waterfall. It is elegant, stately and extremely well-kept. The restaurants were very good although we only ate there a few times as we like to try different places around the area. When we did eat there the food was very good (especially the salted sea bass). The breakfast is amazing as well and I enjoyed how they rotated things so that it wasn't always the same. They knew what kind of coffee I liked and had it waiting at the table by the time I brought my plate back and sat down. That's some great service! The room was gorgeous and the balcony and view were as well. We had a king size bed and the pillows and sheets are to die for! They are the softest sheets we've ever experienced at a hotel. There is a nightly turn-down with little chocolates and one evening there was champagne and a fruit tray waiting for us (we didn't order it). The rooms were meticulously clean so a big thank you to their housekeeping staff! We spent the majority of our time at the beach that is a few steps away from the hotel. The sand is the soft white kind and not the normal black pebble that you find everywhere else. You can rent an umbrella and lounge chairs or just find a place on the beach. The water was very clear and refreshing. There are also little boutiques around the hotel and places to eat or have a coffee as well as a small mall. On Sundays there is a little market where the boutiques are located. As for the pool at the hotel, it is extremely nice and the temperature is perfect. Not sure how they do that, but it is. The view from the pool is just as beautiful. They had very good and enjoyable entertainment. There was a variety to suit all kinds (unless you are looking for a party-this isn't the place for you). The gym had what we needed (treadmill, rowing machine, one upright and one recumbent bike, free weights, 2 weight machines, a bench, towels and water). There were doors to enter and also doors that are open with a view of the ocean while you are exercising. So there is a nice breeze flowing through. Wi-fi was good, no complaints. I didn't use the spa so I cannot comment but I did look at it and the entire facility was luxurious and they have classes during the week (I believe yoga and pilates). The entire Grand El Mirador team did an amazing job and I can't say enough positive things about them. The hotel deserves its 5 star rating but the hotel leadership and staff deserve a 5 star rating as well! If you are questioning this hotel versus another one, do not hesitate to stay at the Grand El Mirador. You won't be disappointed!

Literally the easiest review I’ve ever written. One word describes this hotel, PERFECT! Actually two words, the other being FAULTLESS! The staff at this hotel are on it. They almost do your thinking for you - they were all truly excellent and a real credit to the hotel. Cannot recommend this hotel and the completely relaxing experience we had here enough and we’ll be back for sure. Thank you
