Gloria Palace Amadores Thalasso & Hotel

Gloria Palace Amadores is a family-friendly hotel with views over the sea in Puerto Rico, a former fishing village on the south coast of Gran Canaria. The area is a favourite with visitors for its beach, shops, bars and restaurants, as well as its access to a number of family attractions. The hotel is a single building with eight floors, and it has a 24-hour reception, as well as Wi-Fi all over the hotel area. Outside, you'll find a sun terrace and two outdoor pools, with another smaller pool for children. If you like to stay active on holiday, you can play tennis on the hotel's courts or visit the hotel gym for a workout. There's a sauna for post-gym relaxation, and you can get treatments in the hotel spa. A pool table and table tennis are available to play friendly matches in the games room. You can eat at the hotel's buffet restaurant, and enjoy a drink from the pool bar. An elevator takes you from the hotel to the seafront, where you can relax on the sand or explore this popular area. There are plenty of places to eat, drink and shop within walking distance of the hotel for days and nights out. You also have the option to take a short drive or bus ride to other nearby resorts such as Maspalomas, Playa del Ingles, Puerto de Mogan and Las Palmas.

Playa de Amadores beach is 800m from the hotel, and you can get there either in an elevator or by walking down a hill. Around the beach are shops, bars and restaurants so you can stay there throughout the day or take a walk in the evening to find somewhere for dinner. The Europa shopping centre is 600m away, with a selection of shops and places to eat, and the busy Puerto Rico shopping centre is 2km from the hotel with an even wider choice. Around Puerto Rico you'll find plenty of attractions, with water parks for kids and seafood restaurants where you can enjoy the local catch. You can take a boat from Puerto Rico to spot dolphins in a glass-bottom catamaran. If you want to explore further afield, you can catch a bus to Las Palmas, which is 50km away on the other side of the island.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all available at the hotel's buffet restaurant. There are six bars at the hotel, including a pool bar. If you prefer to eat nearby, there are many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

There's a playground and a kids' club for children aged four and up, as well as a teen club for older children.

All rooms have a balcony. There's Wi-Fi and a satellite TV, as well as individually-controlled air conditioning, and a safe for valuables.

What an amazing hotel

We had a lovely time at the hotel. The food is amazing and the hotel itself is so spacious with loads going on. We used the lift to the beach and saw the infinity pool rooms - lovely! The bar area was nice at night - quite romantic!

Spectacular views - great holiday

May 2022 | Belfas

Spent a week here as a family of 4 over Easter. We were in a double room in block 3 - cannot fault the room in anyway (we had door on our bathroom too ). Great big balcony with just an amazing view out to sea. The hotel was kept very clean and all staff were very friendly. We stayed all inclusive and I think if we were to go back (which I think we will), we are most likely to go b&b. I found the food on all inclusive disappointing. There is the one big buffet restaurant (with a lovely terrace) - breakfast, dinner and lunch available here. We often ate in the snack bar for lunch (top pool area), but there is a limited choice on AI - pizza is good, hot dog and poor quality burger. Other options are available (all appeared to be of a much better standard but not on AI). Cocktail list on AI is also quite limited compared to other AI hotels we’ve stayed in. Smoothies and milkshakes for the kids are also not included on AI (again have enjoyed them in other hotels on AI). Although we are all provided with wristbands on AI, you also need your room key when ordering drinks (a bit of a nuisance at first as it’s easily forgotten when going to the pool bar but after a few days you get the hang of it!). The main bar had a very good waiter service system in place - no queuing at the bar and it was nice to have our drinks brought to us when watching the entertainment at night. I had enough of the AI food at dinner after a few days and enjoyed meals out in Puerto Rico - just a short 5 minute walk away. Amadores is about 15 minutes walk away along the coastal path - beautiful walk. The hotel has two amazing infinity pools and they really make the hotel extra special! The views at every location are spectacular- I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a hotel with such amazing views and the reviews that described it as like being on a cruise ship are indeed very accurate. We also enjoyed the water aerobics and bingo with Conor who got willing participants involved without being intrusive. Our kids were too old for the mini club but the little kids appeared to be well catered for with the splash area and foam party. I thought the hotel could make more use of the large snack bar area - it closed at 6pm, would’ve been nice to have the option of having an evening meal or drink up there. There was also nightly entertainment in the main bar which we found to be enjoyable but it ended quite early after 10pm. All in all, we enjoyed our first post-pandemic holiday and it was a first in Gran Canaria for us. The hotel is really impressive and although I was bored with the food after a few days, it wouldn’t put me off going back! Thanks to all that staff there.

Amazing Pool

I stayed at this hotel for a short break with family. Overall it was a good stay. The room was clean and the view was amazing, only down falls were I had no fridge in my room, but the other other people I travelled with did, so not sure why there is inconsistency. Also there is not a lot of information provided on the hotel, you have to go on their website to find all the information i.e pool opening times, location of pools, bars, restaurants etc. just a small guide in the room would have been useful. Did eventually find my way around but it is very confusing at first. Food was brilliant, plenty of choice at breakfast and dinner, all hot, the freshly cooked from the grill option is good. There were some strange combinations but always found enough to make a full meal; and I am picky eater but had no issues. Service at the bars was very good, the waiters very friendly, only downfall is as we went half board we felt the cost of drinks was quite steep in comparison to outside of the hotel. The entertainment was ok, only saw a few nights as we went outside of the hotel, but what we saw was ok. Pool area was kept very clean, the pool itself is amazing, just be careful getting in and out as the paving around the pool is very slippy when wet. There was never a shortage of sunbeds, although there was still people reserving beds early; and never actually using them during the day. Pool bar was good, albeit slow service sometimes as it seemed like they only had one member of staff serving. Lovely to sit there after a day around the pool and have a nice drink with amazing views. Outside of hotel it’s a short walk in either direction to the beach with bars and restaurants at both. Pleasant walk along the promenade.
