Great Value & Base to see The Gambia
If you book a 2 Star Hotel then what do you expect , this Hotel is a great base to explore The Gambia. Its rooms are a little tired but kept clean by amazing happy staff. The rooms are cleaned every day & towels changed , bedding every other day as far as i know. We stayed in a Bungalow which was very spacious (5D) which was in a good area. We had all inc which was fine, the choice was enough for us as usually 3 types of meat was offered also a fish dish but this is 2 Star . Go with this in mind that you are in a very poor Country in a 2 Star Hotel & you will not be disappointed. Would we stay here again YES !!!!!!

Good value all inclusive in Gambia
A bargain hotel, spacious bungalow set amongst gardens which were kept tidy by the gardeners. Very good maid service. Friendly staff altogether. Food quite good and free drinks and water on tap. The rep didn't try to foist tours onto us which was good but gave us plenty of useful information. We rarely do all inclusive as we own an apartment in Turkey so are used to self catering but it was relaxing at Palma Rima. it just needs some money spent on some of the buildings but this didn's spoil our holiday. First time in Gambi and it has left a lasting impression. Would recommend tourists get out and about and not lounge around all day by the pool (you can do that in Spain).

We had a fantastic holiday, we could do as much or as little as we wished. The trips that we done were just right for us, the Roots tour is a must, as we both like to go on holiday not just to sit by the pool but to learn a little about the local culture. The markets were as we hoped they would be, full of great bargains & the people were very friendly & not to pushy. The staff were great they couldn't do enough to make sure our holiday was a memorable experience. Highly recommended.

Great holiday at Palma Rima Bungalows
Just back from Palma Rima Bungalows Gambia. which are very spacious. We had a great time. We were worried after reading some of the reviews before we went, But for the money we paid could not fault it. There was always a good choice at meal times ,with plenty of places to eat near the hotel and on the strip. We had Lobster & Tiger Prawns at the African Queen ( they were wonderful ) The staff around the pool & in the restaurant could not do enough for us we made some good friends. The monkeys woke us most mornings but they were adorable

First time in Gambia, hotel was standard considering paying for all inclusive
First time in Gambia, hotel was standard considering paying for all inclusive staff were very friendly and accommodating . Hotel and rooms could do with updating and it could well be an excellent 4-5star hotel. Food is a bit on the bland side but plentiful and varied. Reception staff could do with some customer service training.
Requested wheelchair from hotel at time of booking- never materialised !!!
Will return and other than the above really friendly hotel -would recommend staying.

Fantastic time in Gambia
Cheap and cheerful.
You get what you pay for.
Rooms were much cleaner than last year and the outside areas had clearly had some attention since last year.
Lovely big pool but area around it needs to be cleaned more often as lots of drinks get spilt but never cleaned up.
Don't bother paying extra for bungalow unless you spend lots of time in your room, the block rooms are adequate if like us you only use your room to get changed and sleep.

Cheap & cheerful time in The Gambia
The Palma Rima hotel is a clean & friendly hotel in Kololi, Gambia. For the money paid I wouldnt have expected anything more. There are 2 types of accomodation at Palma Rima, the 'cell block' & bungalows, we stayed in the block and the only thing I would have liked is tea/coffee facilities in the room, it was cleaned every day & the sheets changed every 3 days, not bad in my opinion.
We were b&b and the breakfast was pretty good, if not a bit samey, we only had dinner in the restaurant once & it was ok, lunch from the bar once & really didnt enjoy it at all.
There are plenty of restaurants outside the hotel & please dont believe anyone that says it isnt very safe outside the hotel, it is perfectly safe, but be prepared for a lot, & I do mean a lot, of attention. Particular favourites of ours were Amigos & Luigis, both on the way down to the beach, great staff & food.
At the beach head for Solomans beach bar, it may cost 10delasi for your sunbed, but you will be looked after, even the dog Brandy will keep an eye out for you.

Holiday in The Gambia
The hotel is very old and has not had any work done on it for a long, long time and it shows. The staff however, are very helpful. The pool is large, but apart from table tennis there is nothing for children. Got the impression the hotel is used by over 60's who return each year for winter sun. The room was cleaned every day and the towels changed every day. The sheets were changed every other day. The food was not very good and the drinks were very expensive in the hotel. We went on a B & B basis and ate out for lunch and dinner. The local resturants are very good and a good choice of food.
