Why Go

Marmaris holidays offer a well established Turkey holiday resort, with a legion of fans who return year after year. They come for the sun (it's practically guaranteed from May to October), the fun (ditto!) and the sights – holidays in Marmaris are close to some of the most romantic stretches of coastline in Turkey.

Marmaris holidays are not particularly authentic any more – the Marmaris hotels and villas far outnumber the last remains of the old fishing village of Marmaris – but one thing Marmaris holidays do excel in, like the country itself, is shopping. The town's bazaar is a delight for the senses.

The waterfront is always busy – sleek yachts line its popular marina, and wooden hulled gulet cruisers regularly ply the waters, taking passengers on a journey around the coast.

But it's at night that Marmaris holidays truly come alive, with more bars, clubs and restaurants than any along the Lycian Coast.
