Far from "elegance" the Miramar Hotel
The Miramar Hotel, now run by Elegance, not a family run hotel ,clams a three star rating. Don't be taken in, one star at a push.
On arrival we did not have a Thomas Cook rep to meet us.
Your (our)Tenerife Thomas Cook team was not meeting us, day off no cover avalable!
Dinner. We were not allowed entry to dinning room by hotel staff until we had purchased drinks tickets, which we did not request or require.
The Food. Cold plates for hot meal. Salad buffet not chilled. Food not labelled. Food recycelled. No menu's available.
The Staff. Unable or unwilling to speak english when problems arose.
The Hotel. Dated in need of some tender loveing care. Outdoor pool not heated, no heating in rooms, indoor (plunge) pool, sauna, jacuzzi, hair drier, t.v. remote, available at a price.Outdoor Pool area not to bad, grass cut and pool clean, but cold. Stairwell lights poor, they do not work or they switch off by themselves, not on a timer.
The Resort. Great place to visit, plenty to see, local food very good, local drinks not expencive and local beer nice. We would return to the Canary Islands.
Thomas Cook staff. Resort rep new to area. Freely admitted to not entering dinning room with a view to eat. Local area manager unhelpful. Not the type of rep's Thomas Cook portray on t.v. advert's.
Aircrew. Great both ways.
After reading this it's your call.

Don't go there , this family run hotel do not deserve genuine paying guests.
I would not recommend this hotel to my enemies never mind friends the hotel bar staff were unfriendly to the point of being rude the alleged all inclusive did not happen as advertised and we were given drinks in tiny plastic containers instead of glasses even in the inside bar the food was very basic with very little choice or variation although we did not go hungry !! It was a long walk down to the town centre via hundreds of very steep steps and a long haul back up again.Entertainment did not exist neither did the courtesy bus to the beach. While trying to obtain information and any forms we required from the Thomas Cook rep we were ignored for a long time while he chose to chat endlessly with other people about nothing in particular , instead of carrying out his "rep" duties. The amount of sunbeds/ seats round the pool was totally inadequate for the number of guests , please take serious note of this review , in 40 years of travelling abroad we have never felt strongly enough to even bother with any comments. The general appearance / decor / inside the hotel even without the managements inability to provide a decent holiday as advertised was at the very least dated but generally shoddy. In a nutshell we got a 1 star holiday at the price of a 3 star !!

We have stayed at the Miramar many times and always have a lovely holiday.
The hotel is in the most idyllic setting next to the old casino building in the Taoro park. The rooms are a good standard with spectacular views of the sea, mount Teide and the Oratava valley and are cleaned and towels changed daily.
The food is buffet style with a choice of dishes and a very good salad bar in the evening and at breakfast a good choice of hot and cold dishes.
Set in a lovely garden the pool area is peaceful and has views over the town and the sea.
We have always found the staff, most of whom have been there for many years to be very friendly and welcoming.
Set on a hill the walk down to the town through the gardens is very pleasant with waterfalls and nice places to sit and admire the views
There are 3 bars within an easy stroll if you like to stretch your legs after dinner and don't wish to go into the town
