Hadrian’s Library
This Roman-style gem was created by the Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD. As you enter the site, you’re greeted by majestic Corinthian columns marking the entrance and intricate marble facades that once housed countless scrolls and texts. Wandering through the ruins, try to imagine it as a hub of intellectual exchange filled with scholars and philosophers.
Getting there
Hadrian’s Library is just 65m from the exit from the Monastiraki Metro station. However, despite being included in the combined ticket for the archaeological sites and almost next door to the much larger Roman Agora, many visitors to Athens overlook it.
