We're returning for another visit
Visited first 2 weeks of August 2013. Had large, well equipped room facing the beach, very peaceful. Didn't bother with Royal Elite service, found it pricey for what you got. Extremely clean hotel, fantastic choice of food in all restaurants. All staff were pleasant. Never had any problems finding a sunbed. If I could find a fault, it would be the lack of comfortable seating.
Well recommended- just remember to take clothing with elasticated waists, you'll need them!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed Sandos Papagayo for a week in February - Rained couple of days but whe the sun was out, it was glorious. Hotel itself is lovely - rooms big and spacious - cleaned every day. Restaurants you could not fault. Italien and Mexican were superb - Oriental didn't have what I liked, but hey if you didn't like it, you could go back into the buffet (always something there to like). Ate too much as usual - you could eat and drink 24 hrs a day if you wanted. Plenty sunbeds and people around to help - recommend to all ages. Superb walking promenade to the centre of Playa Blanca right infront of our hotel and shuttle bus to/from town centre regularly.

we hade a lovely holiday at this superb hotel.
My seventeen year old grandson found plenty to entertain him with the games round the pool to the large games room in the hotel.
The food was very good with lots of choice.
We loved the sitting area out side the bar which is a real sun trap.
The staff are all lovely and hard working and if they haven't got a grin on there face 24/7 is because they are concentrating on doing their job which they do exceedingly well.I would highly recommend this hotel and would love to visit again

lovely holiday in playa blanca
really enjoyable holiday in sandos papagayo. the setting is excellent with good sized accommodation and a large balcony. The pool complex is kept spotlessly clean with plenty of sunbeds available.Entertainment team worked hard to keep everybody entertained throughout the day.I felt the main bar was a little dated with uncomfortable seating although it did have a lovely veranda attached with wonderful views

Great solo trip
I found the Sandos a great value for money 4* hotel, it was what was sold on the tin. Yes there were people there who complained but then there always are. They should have stayed in some of the 4* hotels I have in the past.
The food was good and the variety was changed. The animation team left a bit to be desired in their performances but you do not have to expect a professional show from them. All in order a good 4* holiday and hotel
Even branded whisky at the bar!

Christmas in the sun
A very large hotel built on the side of a hill and slightly isolated. Not really any good if you have mobility problems. There is a beach, although I wouldn't say it's nice and sandy and it is located way down from the hotel pools and reception. If you are lucky enough to get a room overlooking the bay on the lower levels it would be easier to get to the beach and the promenade.
Apart from all this we had a very enjoyable 2 week stay over the Christmas and New Year. Food was very good and plentiful. Drinks were available from different areas of the hotel and yet again there was plenty of choice. Every night there was a show in the outdoor theatre which was well presented and varied. Obviously with different nationalities staying at the hotel there is a restriction on what type of entertainment is acceptable because of language differences. The weather was sunny and pleasant although some days there was a cold nip in the wind. As for Lanzarote itself I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the island. We did the volcano trip and the market as well as the submarine. All very enjoyable and a must if you want to see some of the island. The guides we had on the trips were very informative and were a mine of information.

Nice place, but nothing special
We stayed at the sandos for the 1st 2 weeks of the British school summer holidays. The hotel has signs displayed stating no reserving of beds, however this is not enforced, so being up before 7am to get a sun bed and parasol was the only option. (all parasols are fixed to the ground, so bagging one early on is a must!)
The pools are a nice size, however there are various areas that are in need of repair (smashed tiles around the pool) and even at one point people were being cut by the tiles in the pool whilst playing water polo.
Food was nice, although after the 1st week, it became a little boring -although the roast lamb was beautiful! The Mexican restaurant made a very welcome change.
The staff were always polite in all areas (bars, restaurants etc) and were always busy.
The entertainment team were OK, but the day activities always seemed the same, and the night entertainment wasn't the best I have seen (miming to Disney songs is certainly different)
The rooms were plenty big enough and plenty of storage. The room was kept clean to a reasonable standard, however had to ask for the bird droppings to be cleaned up after being on the balcony for 2 days.
all in all, not a bad place, not sure I would go back though.
