Whilst trying hard to maintain its original, fishing-village character, Armacao is fast developing into a major resort of some note.This is good news for those who love first class beach facilities, and those who enjoy all kinds of food from all around the globe. LOCATION 7km from Albuferia, 3km from Gale. SETTING Sea cliffs, broad coastline. BEACHES Excellent, crescent-shaped, sandy, plenty of facilities. LOCAL INTEREST Boat trips to Bevagul take in interesting sea caves, Silver Castle. LOCAL FLAVOUR Pair of good Indian and Portuguese restaurants, fish barbecues a must. SHOPPING AND MARKETS Weekly market and a large selection of international shops. CULTURE Caters for every modern seaside requirement, still retains some 'old' character as a small fishing village. ACTIVITIES Golf (Salgados 8km), swim with dolphins (excursion). GETTING ABOUT Armacao de Pera is approx. 50 minutes from Faro Airport.
