Santorini was a beautiful place to visit, breath taking views.
Kamari is a lovely place to stay, can get busy, but there are so many bars to choose from, you can always find somewhere to eat and drink.
Levante Hotel was basic, but the rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly. The pool was clean, although a little cold, was never too busy. The only downside was the breakfast, which was the same food for the whole two weeks we were there. The hotel is situated on the beach front, with an abundance of bars and tavernas to choose from. Food was excellent. approx 10 euros a main meal, 4 euros a large beer.
Beach not the best.
I would recommend anyone to hire jeep/quad to explore the island, although if this is not everyones taste, there are regular buses taking you to Fira and then from Fira to other resorts, only 1.80 euros.

Great spot, especially in low season
Wasn't expecting much from this considering the very low, last minute price but its a lovely little place in the very centre of Kamari. If you've never been there, don't worry, its not a lairy place.......nice laid back greek beach resort with just enough to do for a week or so. Most rooms are away from the main strip so its quiet at night and the hotel bar (right on the beach) is one of the best in the resort. The rooms are cleaned daily and have a small TV (but few channels) and a fridge (essential). There's a free car park right next door if you want a car/bike (recommended) to travel round the island.
All round excellent little place !

Great time & location
Lovely family run hotel. Basic but very clean rooms. Discounts in bar and restaurant for residents. Lots of bars and restaurants, all within walking distance off hotel. Great staff and nothing was to much trouble for them. Would definitely go back. A visit to the islands capital is a must.

Great resort, dreadful accommodation
It was my first holiday with Thomas Cook and when I got shown our room at the Levante, I was shocked that a holiday company would have such a run down hotel on their books. From reviews I have seen of the Levante, I guess there are a small number of nice rooms in the hotel but the large number of rooms on the ground floor opposite the car park are awful and run down. During our week their, I have to fix the toilet which continually poured water, fix the shower head which was hanging off the wall and clean the room key which was encrusted with mud/grime. The toilet was greeny yellow and I've actually had nicer 'student' accommodation! I'm not usually that fussy but this place was beyond grotty! We spent very little time in the room and spoke to other guests who had the same bad experience. None of us will be returning to the hotel and I advise others to get a photo of the room they will be staying in before they hand over money.
Having said this, the resort itself was great and the Levante restaurant which is separate to the hotel is lovely with brilliant service. It is a lovely place to sit and people watch with the sea just in front. Stay in Kamari but please avoid this hotel!

Amazing affordable holiday in Santorini
This was our third visit to Santorini of which is an island that we love. Every year we hire a car and drive around the island and find the most amazing places just to sit and drink coffee or have a meal. We stayed this year (2011) in June at the resort of Kamari in the Levante Hotel which was a very affordable option as staying in the north of the island is very expensive. Levante is a very friendly hotel with amazing staff and the most popular bar in the whole resort. The rooms themselves are very basis and dont have any catering facilities. The bathroom facilities are very basic, with just a show and no bath, although this isnt uncommon for Greece.
The food in Santorini in general is not great as they dont grow anything on the Island, it all gets shipped in from larger islands or mainland greece. I think as long as you stay basic i.e. greek salads, pizza, omlettes etc.
I would urge anyone going to Santorini to hire a car as its too much of a beautiful island to just stay in 1 resort.
As we had a car we didnt use the transfer service or the rep of thomas cook, however we have done in the past (our first visit to santorini) and we were pleased with the level of service.
