Great hotel, wouldn't call it a four star but bloody good three

The bar is really reasonably priced, it's clean the staff are friendly and helpful. But best of all ,it's over the road from an amazing beach. Its by all amenities, bus stop and taxi rank outside the hotel. We never ate in the hotel but all looks good, the bar sells snacks, very reasonably priced.

Very Helpful Staff and Comfortable Stay Near the Beach

Overall this was a great hotel to stay at. The staff are very helpful. They switched rooms for us without missing a beat when we discovered that we only had one double bed instead of two singles (we are not, ahem, small people) and helped us figure out dinner plans. The room is decent - it is showing a bit of wear and tear (chips in the paint and that sort of thing) but it is clean and the beds are comfortable (very firm, which we like, but of course not everybody does). Our only complaint was the wifi - we apparently can only have two devices attached at a time, but even after ‘forgetting’ the network on my phone, I still got an error message saying I had too many devices when I tried to connect my iPad, and my husband’s phone disconnected and would not reconnect after we left the room and came back. (To be fair, we haven’t asked for help with the wifi because we feel like we’ve already been giant pains in the butt with the room switch). Other than the wifi frustration I am very pleased. It is bright, comfortable, and right across the street from the beach. I am looking forward to falling asleep to the sound of the surf.

First class hotel

Close to the ferry port and easy to find. Big, friendly welcome by English speaking reception team. Room was large, well-equipped,spotless and with a super sea and beach view. There is access to a small gym. The restaurant was not open due to the end of season but the bar and “bar snacks” are exceptional. We ate there 3 of 4 nights .. fantastic and substantial meals. Burgers to die for, calamari, pizza, anchovies ….. The bar is further enhanced by the amazing Belen .. efficient, very pleasant and she really cares about the bar and her customers. Breakfast is buffet style but includes all types of bread, fruit, fruit juices, cold meats, pastries, cheeses,bacon and eggs, etc,etc. It is fantastic, The hotel is conveniently located for the town centre, the beach, Magdalena Palace and the open-topped city guided tour. Santander is well worth many visits and a vibrant, busy mix of shops, bars and restaurants. We plan to return to the Silken Rio for what will be our third visit. A quality hotel !
