Dit mooie hotel is gelegen in Las Ramblas. Het hotel bevindt zich in het stadscentrum waardoor vele bezienswaardigheden gemakkelijk te voet te bereiken zijn. De reizigers beschikken vlakbij over uitstekende vervoersverbindingen die hen in staat stellen de omgeving te verkennen. De accommodatie ligt op 1. 8 kilometer van het dichtstbijzijnde strand. De reizigers verblijven op 2. 0 kilometer van de luchthaven. Het etablissement herbergt 35 gezellige slaapkamers. Continental Barcelona Hotel werd volledig heringericht in 2008. De accommodatie beschikt ter plaatse over een wifi-internetverbinding. Aangezien de receptie van deze accommodatie 24 uur per dag geopend is, zijn de gasten altijd welkom. Helaas zijn er geen slaapkamers waar wie in dit etablissement verblijft om een kinderbedje voor de allerkleinsten kan vragen. Continental Barcelona Hotel begrijpt dat toegankelijkheid voor alle gasten belangrijk is. This is the worst hotel I have ever been in. The good point first. Great location. Rooms are clean, bed and shower room are comfortable. All day and breakfast buffet is horrible, hotel set up, 2 floors in a mix use building is confusing. Rooms which are not balcony rooms on the Ramblas side are like a prison cell. No adequate hotel room Equipments, like where to put the suitcase. Very high price of around 260 euro per night for such a low quality hotel. Dirty carpet corridors. Lift and automatic doors to enter the hotel room floors are old and in bad conditions. A horrible hotel experience, and I strongly don't recommend this hotel.

Safety Concerns

Ok hotel right on the top of Las Ramblas. If the Las Ramblas is where you want to be, the location is good. The reason I am even writing this review is because I have a concern about the safety here, specifically the ability to exit the building in the case of an emergency. The room they initially gave us was on the second floor which is really on level 3 or 4 of the building structure I believe. We had to make several turns through the hallways to get far into the interior of the hotel to reach the room. A little confusing how to find the room and find your way back to the main entrance if you are not familiar with the hotel. Due to the fact I found it difficult to find my way to the room and also back to the entrance, I immediately thought of how would I leave the hotel if there was an emergency. The closest door was quite a ways and numerous twists and turns through the corridors away. Reasonably close to our room, there was a door marked as an Emergency Exit. See first photo below. But, the exit had a pull handle (unusual for an emergency exit). So I went to check it and pulled the handle. Sure enough it was locked with a dead bolt. What good is an emergency exit if it is locked all the time?? There is a key code pad to the side of the door which I suppose is meant to enter a code and open the door. Once again, useless in an emergency. I went the other direction and a little further away from our room was another door marked Emergency Exit (see second photo). This emergency exit also had a pull handle which was also locked. There is a phone next to this door that says in an emergency you need to pick up the phone and wait. For what I'm not sure, I suppose for the front desk to answer the phone then unlock the door. This is also inadequate in an emergency situation. I felt nervous about staying in the room that was initially assigned to us, so I brought my concern up to the front desk and they said they are complying with all safety requirements in Spain. That was surprising to me. A hotel set up like this would never be allowed to operate in the United States. Still feeling nervous, I pushed back and said I was uncomfortable. They told us they only had one other room in the hotel available. I went and looked at the room that was available and it was closer to the main entrance. I was still not entirely comfortable with this room, but I switched to it because it was closer to the main entrance and exit stairwell and it was the only other option. Not sure if this review will motivate any changes by the hotel, but at least guests will be informed of the setup before they arrive. I would not stay in this hotel again unless they changed the exit procedures. Emergency Exit doors should be unlocked from the inside at all times, otherwise they might as well be walls.

Great hotel in Barcelona with a great location

My wife and I were at the hotel for the second time now in Easter 2023. We had a great stay and are very satisfied with the service the hotel provides. Great and clean rooms. Very good WIFI and a very pleasant and helpful reception. Drinks and snacks that they have available 24/7 are very good. The location is one of the best in Barcelona. We will definitely be back.
