Dit hotel ligt centraal, midden in de fraaie binnenstad aan het begin van de voetgangerszone. Winkel- en amusementsmogelijkheden vindt u in de onmiddellijke omgeving. Naar de fraai aangelegde strandboulevard en de door César Manrique vormgegeven zeezwembaden met 8 zwembassins en kunstmatige eilanden is het ongeveer 5 tot 10 minuten. Het strand van Playa Jardin is ongeveer 400 meter van het hotel. Een halte van het openbaar vervoer bevindt zich op ongeveer 200 meter afstand van het hotel. De luchthaven van Tenerife-Noord ligt op ongeveer 30 kilometer; de luchthaven Tenerife-Zuid is 115 kilometer.Het historische hotel is gebouwd in 1928 en is in 2006 compleet gerenoveerd. Het beschikt over een tropische palmenhal (patio) met zithoeken, een receptie, een televisielounge, een speelkamer en twee liften. Verder bevindt zich in het gebouw een bar en een restaurant. De gasten hebben de beschikking over (draadloze) internetaansluiting.De ruime kamers beschikken over een badkamer met haardroger. Verder hebben de kamers telefoon, satelliettelevisie, huurkluis, een koelkast (tegen betaling). Sommige kamers hebben een balkon.Het hotel beschikt over 3 dakterrassen, waarvan één met een klein, verwarmd zwembad, een bubbelbad, sauna en een snackbar. Ligstoelen en parasols zijn eveneens aanwezig. Op het dakterras kunt u tevens tafeltennissen en schaken. Hotel situation perfect

This hotel front is situated on a beautiful square with church in an old town. The back has beautiful views out to sea. It is decorated inside in stunning Canarian decor with amazing indoor plants and seating area. It is a 3 star hotel so the rooms are a bit dated but we liked that quirkiness. There is a swimming pool with sea views and relaxing seating area. There is also a small jacuzzi and sauna. The reception were really helpful and we felt they were very keen to make our stay enjoyable.The first room we were given unfortunately had plumbing problems with smell coming from the bathroom. They immediately changed us to a smaller room on the third floor. It was very cosy, had lovely view of the pool area and sea . Bathroom was small but perfectly adequate. We were very comfortable there. Everything in the hotel was spotlessly clean . The staff were all very friendly and obliging. The breakfast was quite basic , not a lot of fresh fruit and only cooked choice was rather fatty bacon , hard boiled eggs and fried eggs . We did discover they would cook omelettes fresh which we enjoyed. There was adequate fresh bread and croissants. All the jams , honeys and butter were in small individual plastic packets which is not good for the planet!!There was porridge which sometimes was very thin and cereals were basic. The town itself is great for a wander, lots of nice shops and plenty of choice of reasonably priced restaurants for evening meals , lots of choice for fresh fish . We visited Molly Malones Irish bar to watch rugby, a great fun place with music. The beach in the town is stoney but there are other beaches about 15 minutes walk away. Local bus station is about 10 minutes walk and the buses are frequent , on time and cheap. Garrachico is a lovely place to visit. We really had a lovely relaxing 2 week holiday although weather was a bit disappointing at times , however we did expect that the north of the island could be cooler. We would definitely visit the Hotel Monopol again and thank the staff for all their kindness

Improvements please

The hotel has a perfect location, and has an outstanding possibility to give the guests a memorable experience. But some improvements should be welcomed. The breakfast is far below excellent. Long queues for coffee, awful bread, and very ordinary cheeses and no proper slices of meat. The staff should be taught to be more smiling and helpful in the breakfast room and in the reception. The cleaning ladies could teach them. We heard complaints from many guests. There was partly free Wi-Fi . Most Hotels these days have free Wi-Fi. The room was ok, and the cleaning excellent. A wonderful swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. The view from the roof terrace was stunning. So it would be possible to make some improvements to convince us to come again next year. We love Puerto de la Cruz.

Hotel Monopol

I arrived at the hotel and had a minor problem with my room. I went down to reception and Juan Carlos who was on duty, listened to my problem and offered me an upgrade immediately. The hotel is beautiful and in the lovely old quarter of the city. The facilities in the hotel are excellent, with an outdoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi, and indoor gym. The room I had was serviced daily to a very high standard. Breakfast was very good, and all of the staff were friendly. I really cannot fault the place, it has an amazing colonial style interior and is the ideal base for exploring this enchanting city.
