Lovely, clean and friendly hotel
Stayed here all inclusive for 5 nights with my husband and 4 year old son. Definitely worth the 4 allocated stars. When we first arrived here there was only 2 people on the reception desk so check in did take 45 mins. As per the other reviews it is mainly Dutch and German here, not many English at all. This was not a problem for us however as everyone was really friendly, smiling and saying hello, it was just a shame there was no English kids for my son to play with and so he could actually understand what was been said! Rooms We were on the 3rd floor which was perfect for us. There are 4 lifts to use or of course you can use the stairs. We chose the stairs most times as the lifts could be slow at times. The rooms are very spacious and all have pool views. There are twin beds in the bedroom and then in the living room there is a couch made up into a bed. Not the most comfiest beds in the world but we soon got used to them. We were only given 1 pillow each so asked reception for more and this was not a problem at all. Large shower in the bathroom with detachable shower head which made showering my son very easy. Towels replaced every 2 days. Shower gel is provided. There is an attached hairdryer in the top drawer in the living room as well as a TV (Disney channel and ITV, ITV2 only) table and chairs, coffee table and an armchair. Plenty of wardrobe space, drawers and also a safe (we did not sue this) The corridors are very dated, but who really cares about that??? The room was spotless......the whole hotel, pool and food areas were spotless and there was forever people cleaning and tidying! Pool Areas The splash park for kids I would say is for under 2's, its not very big at all. The children's swimming pool however is big enough and is actually the warmest out of all 3 pools. The adults pool is freezing and goes very deep! plenty of sunbeds, people start reserving beds from 7.30am onwards as this is when breakfast starts. We were never down before 8am and always got beds right next to the children's pool. The sun by the children's pool doesn't actually come out till about 10.30am but there is a patch of beds behind the pizza bar that comes out a lot earlier. There is a small but very good playground and mini golf that my son loved, you get the golf clubs and balls from the lifeguard. There is an arcade with a few games, pool etc which was good for the little ones to go to when it was too hot. We didnt use the spa facilities so cant really comment on this. We did use the showers (They provide towels) on our last day however as room check out is 11am and we did not get picked up till 3.30pm. All inclusive continued until we had left. Food/Drink We ate breakfast here daily, pretty much the same food, it was very repetitive. Bacon, sausage (not English) different types of egg. Plenty of different bread, rolls. croissants, fruit, cereal, yoghurt. biscuits, cheese, ham, tea coffee, apple, orange juice. We didnt eat lunch in the buffet restaurant, we either ate from the pool bar where you could get chips, burgers, hot dogs or the pizza bar where there different piazzas daily and always garlic bread. Dinner we went out every night. The girls who work on the pool bar especially Iris is lovely, always smiling and is very polite. The drinks are all local ones and the cocktail ones unfortunately are not great. We did try the Palmera bar for lunch one day which did veal on hot stones, i gave it a go but it wasnt for me. once the stones cooled and veal stopped cooking there were parts which were too raw for me. they also did chicken strips for the kids which my son loved. Location It is a long walk to the beach, especially if you have little legs with you. We did it the first night and it took about 40 mins, every other night we asked reception to call us a taxi as it was just that little bit too far for my son. Once your down there it is lovely with plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Papi's Grill (on the way to the beach) is a must. the steak there is unreal. There is a supermarket less than 5 mins away which sells literally everything you may need. there is also a sports bar if you turn left after the supermarket which shows all the football and does amazing cocktails. Outings We visited Aqualand which was amazing, 35 euros for adults, 16 for 2-5 years olds and free for under 2's. Sunbeds are 4 euros when you get in. The food is so over priced, 7 euros for a very small portion of chips, you can take your own food in however so I would defo recommend this. We also did a boat trip to see Dolphins, we booked this through reception. Worked out 100 euros for the 3 of us. I loved it and we saw lots of dolphins. The water is very choppy though, so if you get sea sick i would not recommend it. the boat last 2 hours in total and departs from Puerto Rico, transfers to and back from the hotel are included in the price. All in all I really enjoyed this hotel, all staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the hotel is so clean and spotless, I would not hesitate at returning!!!
Great hotel
We have just returned from a weeks stay and we could not really complain. The rooms were very spacious and clean. As you enter the room there was a large double bed which was comfortable enough. There was also a sitting area which for ourselves included two beds suitable for children (the sofa had been converted to a single bed and there was a single bed in the corner). Even with the beds added there was plenty of room to sit and watch the tv etc. The bathroom included a shower. It was a little awkward showering the children but we managed. The rooms all have a pool view with the corridors across the back of the hotel. There were a lot of facilities available at the hotel. The spa was available to children between 10 and 12 and then adults only after. The pools in the spa were lovely and warm. There was a jacuzzi, sauna and beds you could lie on which bubbles came out of (I don’t know what these are called). The Dead Sea was nice but the children were not keen on this as it was salty water. The outdoor pools were cold, however, once you were in it was fine as you soon climatised. There were three pools; one I would say for babies, kids pool and main pool. There were also a couple of jacuzzi’s for adults only. We did not use these. The girls loved the kids clubs. We did not use these in the morning but went most afternoons between 3 and 5. There was then a mini disco at 830 followed by movie nights (few nights a week ). There was a show aimed at adults indoor at 10pm each night and a singer in the outdoor bar. There was also mini golf and ping pong near the baby pool. The equipment for this was available to get easily from the life guard. I believe there was also a roof terrace but we did not use this so could not comment on what it was like. Food- the food during the day was better than the night. At the pool bar you could get things like burgers, hot dog and chips. These were made fresh on order. There was another bar outside which served sit down food including steak on stone, sandwiches, pasta and burgers. At this bar you could also get ice cream to either sit down with or take away. There was also a pizza bar which you could go up and just take a slice of pizza or garlic bread. They also had what looked like half chickens here. The indoor restaurant was ok. This was buffet style and just like any Spanish hotel to be honest. The best part was the live cooking at the back of the restaurant. There wasn’t a lot of choice but we always found something to eat even for a fussy 6 year old. We went during the Easter school holidays and found if you wanted a sun bed near the pools you had to put a towel down by 8:30/9am latest. If later there were still beds available at the far end but this was within the smoking area. The hotel was a ten minute walk to the beach. We took a left at the hotel and followed the main road, it was east to find. However there are about 80 steps down to the beach, which was tiring walking back up. The hotel had free shuttles to the beach though but we did not use this as was not due for 45 mins so took a slow walk. We were not picked up for our return flight until 18:50 but still had full access to the hotel until we left. We enquired about keeping our room on and we’re told we would not know until the morning we were due to leave if we could. Unfortunately we could not keep this on but this did not affect our day and we’re able to shower and freshen up in the spa. We found out if we were able to keep the room on there would have been a cost of 20 euro to 1pm, 40 euro to 3pm or 60euro to 6 pm.
3 star stay
This hotel is good and is the 3 starts as advertised. Things I wish I knew before coming: - Bring a bottle with you. They do not give you bottles of water, only cups. The pool bar won’t fill these for you either so you have to go to one of the water taps which can be a little far depending where you sit - In April the sun doesn’t come round to the hotel until around 11. The hotel is quite high and therefore blocks the sun - People put their towels down while it is still dark outside. You need to have your towel down by 8:00 at the latest to get a spot. We had a lie in on the first day and at 10:00we could not get a sun lounger. My little one had to sit on the grass - Kids club is great activity wise. There is a soft play area, trampoline, games and face paint. However, the children can come and go as they please so if you normally leave your little one sit by the baby pool as you don’t need to sign the children out - Food in the day is brilliant. The girls at the pool bar work so hard to serve drinks and fresh food from 11-4. The sit down meal at lunch by the other bar is also excellent with steak, chicken nuggets, salad, pasta etc. all cooked to order. The food in the evening however, is a little disappointing. Not much choice, I regularly saw kids with a plate of chips and cucumber. There should be a kids station even with a small selection, disappointing as breakfast and lunch is 5* - The beds are extremely uncomfortable. We were 2 adults and a 5 year old. The bed for our little one was just the sofa with a sheet on. The sofa is leather so hard. There should be another bed for families. - Entertainment is average. Lots of waiting around though and mini disco is late at 8:30 - No information given when you check in other than scan a QR code which gives minimal. You have to ask other people or work it out for yourselves - They charge you for the safe and the towels. €3 a day for the safe plus €10 deposit. Towels are €10 but you get €9 back however, If you want fresh towels and don’t want to keep the same ones each day you will be charged a €1 each time for each towel - Room towels are only changed every other day
