Why Choose Tenerife?

Tenerife's biggest draw is that it never really switches off. While much of Europe cools down over winter, coastal daytime temperatures rarely drop below 20°C, and summer highs reach 28°C, so a beach week in February works as well as one in August. Flights take around 4 hours 30 minutes, so winter sun doesn’t mean a long-haul trip. Once you've landed, there's plenty to fill your days. Costa Adeje

Best for: a mix of family, luxury and adult only hotels, with calm beaches

Calm, shallow water and Blue Flag beaches make this Tenerife’s south-coast hotspot for snorkelling and sailing,  while the gentle waters are perfect for younger children. Hotels range from family resorts to adult only and luxury stays, so it works whether you’re travelling with kids or as a couple. Playa de las Américas

Best for: a lively stay, with bars, clubs and watersports

Evenings in Playa de las Américas (or Playa de las Americas) revolve around bars, clubs and summer guest DJs, so this is the resort for a buzzing holiday to Tenerife with friends or a group. By day it's a proper beach resort, with jet skiing, surfing and parasailing to try, and family-friendly hotels along the south coast. It's right next to Costa Adeje too, which means you can  flit between the two for a quieter beach or a different restaurant. Want an early night? Los Cristianos

Best for: an easy first visit, with boat trips from the marina

A former fishing village turned relaxed seaside town, built around a working marina. Think two golden beaches, boat trips and dolphin-spotting from the harbour. Just along the coast from Playa de las Américas but with much calmer vibes, it’s easy to dip into its lively party scene on an evening. Los Cristianos is made for easy-going breaks and first-time visitors. Puerto de la Cruz

Best for: a slower, more traditional pace, with black sand and culture

Black-sand Playa Jardín and the Lago Martiánez seawater pools promise two very different beach days. Plus, the tapas bars and traditional Canarian pace add a cultural feel, which you won’t find in some of its southern resorts. The north is greener, too, so it’s a good pick  for couples, or those  hoping to see a more authentic side of the Canaries. Puerto de Santiago

Best for: a peaceful stay beneath the Los Gigantes cliffs

A quiet, whitewashed village set beneath the dramatic Los Gigantes cliffs on Tenerife's south-west coast. Wild whale and dolphin watching trips leave from the nearby harbour, so it's a handy base for seeing wildlife on the water.
