Breakfast was filthy, crowded, not a big enough space, and didn't keep it tidy or restocked. Hard mattresses, barely friendly at the front desk. Probably overwork. No sheer on the window, so it was either nothing or complete darkness. You could tell there used to be a sheer, and it wore out and they took it down and never replaced it. Lazy and cheap. Close to cruise ship and affordable, but, we won't be back.

Very poor hotel - no clean towels available upon our arrival (first the day after), half of the equipment in the breakfast area was not working e.g. the toaster, the free wi-fi were almost non-existing unless you sat in one specific chair in the reception, room was very, very small (= no closet or room for suitcases on the floor). All in all not a good experience, and we would not recommend this hotel to others, despite the staff were helpful and friendly.

After being locked down for over 2 years due to the Corona virus pandemic, I was dying to travel again. Travel is one of my basic needs, right up there next to food, water, shelter and sleep. When I learned that Come From Away was on Broadway, the decision was made for me – I was going to spend a week in New York, my first solo trip outside of my country in over 2 years! There are so many hotels to choose from. Too many! I decided to stay at the Comfort Inn Midtown West (NY548) located at 548 W. 48th Street in Hell’s Kitchen. I chose this hotel due to its price, convenience, and location to Times Square. I was so excited to stay there. Was. Past tense. The toilet in my room (607) was broken. Someone from maintenance came to fix it. I learned (the hard way) after he left that it was not fixed. I called front desk and asked to be moved to another room. The person I spoke to at the front desk was less than helpful and initially was not going to move me to another room. I was disgusted that the staff at this hotel thought it was ok for a client to stay in a room with a broken toilet. Eventually I was moved to another room (609). I wish I could say that this was the end of the problems at this hotel, but it wasn’t. Out of the 5 days I spent at this hotel, the elevator did not work for 3 of those days. Upon check out, I was told by the general manager that I would receive a 30% discount off my bill. After several calls and emails to this hotel, with promises to get back to me, they never did. To this day – 6 months later - I still haven’t seen the discount on my credit card statement. I’m very disappointed that I was lied to about this discount. I’m not asking for a full refund; I am still patiently waiting for my 30% refund that I was promised. I’m going to New Brunswick in May and Chicago in September and I’m having second thoughts about staying at a Comfort Inn. Between other hotels and AirBnBs, why should I? I have zero incentive or reason to stay at a Comfort Inn.
