Paradise with some seasonal limitations

We are members of Hapimag and after 2 weeks of touring western Türkiye we decided to relax and decompress here. Our “deluxe” suite met all of the high Hapimag standards we have come to appreciate over many years. This was our first visit to Bodrum and the gorgeous location and beautiful surroundings exceeded our expectations; everything was in full bloom! The resort is half an hour east of the city on a peninsula reached by a bumpy narrow road ending just past the facility. Behind the resort is “secret bay” a rocky beach access to an amazing quiet spot for sunbathing and snorkeling in the amazingly clear waters. The resort is on a steep hillside and has lots of steps but they’ll transport your luggage to your condo for you. The resort was very calm and peaceful since we were there during low season. This was also the problem since this huge resort was just barely waking up from hibernation and half of it, the “hotel section”, was still completely shut down, mothballed, and under renovation, including the spa, most of the many restaurants and all the shops making up “mini Bodrum”. Due to the isolated location there are no other restaurants, markets or shops nearby, so we had to depend on a tiny grocery store with a very limited selection of exclusively Turkish foods and virtually no fresh foods, understandably so, in view of rarely any customers. The issue was compounded by the fact that the only 2 restaurants serving food had extremely limited options, were closed on certain days, and the lunch buffets served good, but lukewarm “hot” dishes. We did enjoy the great salad bar and delicious pastries and desserts at the Manzana Restaurant. The outdoor pools were all closed but the heated indoor pool was very warm. There is also a tiny Finnish sauna and a small exercise area next to the Manzana restaurant. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. All the staff was very friendly and helpful, most spoke at least English and some also German. My wife really enjoyed the aroma massage by Sibel at Mini-Knidos Spa. Fatih at the front desk and the young man operating the Minimarket across the hall were particularly helpful.

After almost 30 years with Hapimag we decided to spend 3 Christmas Eve nihgts in Seagarden Bodrum. This was our most pleasant December stay on the beach. Seawater temperature was surprisingly above 20 celcius, and it was crystal clear. Very good courtesy.

Far exceeded expectations!

I had never heard of the Hapimag brand and basically chose this resort on the photos of its lovely beach access. I was prepared to be underwhelmed by other aspects of our stay but was pleasantly surprised. In particular, I was quite wary because their Instagram is full of group activities that hold little appeal to antisocial me. Turns out, a lot of the group activities are for the residents of the time-share side of the resort OR can be easily avoided. I think their Insta needs to focus more on the beauty of this place rather than the jolly social occasions! So what did I like about the resort? - The room. Not glam and a little tired but really thoughtfully laid out for a family of three. A walk-in closet so that you can hide your mess and suitcases, proper space for an extra bed, and bathroom that has two-way door allowing the toilet to be separated off. We paid extra for a sea view which was lovely and the bar, which sat near our room, was lively during the day but super quiet at night. - The gardens and beach are gorgeous. The water is sparkling and clean - and you can avoid the rocks and step in via a platform. The gardens are beautifully manicured and are very lush. The resort is situated on a steep hillside but there are electronic buggies zipping all over the place ready to ferry you up and down the hill. - The all-inclusive alcohol was decent, including a solid range of brand spirits. - the spa: I had a fabulous hammam experience! - valet parking: the guys there were super helpful and quick The main area for improvement for me was the buffet. The food was perfectly edible and you can see that they made an effort to include a range of local dishes but I felt like it all needed a heap more seasoning and flavour. We went to the Turkish 'special' restaurant one night and that was worse than the buffet. All in all, I'd go back. It's 20 minutes or so outside Bodrum itself but that makes the resort both reasonably proximate to the hustle and bustle but also relaxed and quiet.
