GRAND OKAN, Fantastic hotel, totally recommend!
We stayed in The Grand Okan first week of October 22 (our 2nd stay at this hotel). Can't recommend it enough, excellent location, and fabulous buffet. Rooms with sea views are spectacular, amazing sunsets every evening!! Beautiful Cleopatra beach is literally a few steps across from the hotel. Beach staff ensure that everyone feels safe and are always close by for any queries. Food, drinks and service at the beach bar is such high quality. We celebrated a milestone birthday during our stay, the hotel manager, Amanda, really went the extra mile to provide such wonderful customer service, we were allocated a spectacular room for the week and treated to an amazingly decorated room on the big day , not to mention a sumptuous fruit platter. Amanda was so helpful, we wanted to try Panorama Restaurant Kale, as we'd heard about the amazing views, Amanda made the booking for us and arranged our transport for the evening. We're already planning our next visit to The Grand Okan. Thanks to all members of staff, great team work ensured we had a memorable stay.
Good hotel, lovely pool, spotless rooms
I thought that when I booked a "Solo" holiday with Jet2 that it would have facilities to bring solo people together - this was not the case and was very disappointing, especially in the evenings. The bar in the on the opposite side of the road played music into the early hours - the band might aswell have been in the room with me. So plenty of sleepless nights. I booked a Jet2 Jeep Safari, and was collected in a run down jeep with no seat belts, with a driver who was driving right up to the back of other jeeps on the fast dual carriageway. I was pretty frightened and the jeep was scruffy, old and unsafe, as was the driving. I assumed we were doing the mountain cross country in that jeep, so decided to walk away. They came after me and I refused to go, and they made me sign to say I was unwell. I wasn't, I just wasn't prepared to go with them, it was bad enough on the road let alone off road. The hotel staff were great, the food I couldn't vouch for because I had no taste following covid a few weeks before.
They asked us to share a room with our friends because their room was still occupied.
After over four hours on a plane and three hours on a bus from the airport we arrived at the Grand Okan at midnight. We were travelling with another couple and we had booked two double rooms for two weeks. We were informed that the guest staying in the other couples room should had vacated the room at twelve noon the day before but was still there sleeping and that they had kindly made up a room with four beds for us so that we could all share one room that night. Alternatively they said they could give the person an hour to leave and we could have both rooms by two am. We said we wanted two rooms and didn’t want to share so we had to wait two hours to be given our room. When we got to our room is was crowded with beds and had no fridge. The next morning we advise the person at reception about the lack of fridge and that we had no mugs to make coffee in our room only a kettle, we were advised that this was only available in the rooms on our first day, we said this was our first day and they said we could buy coffee downstairs. When we booked the room it said we would have coffee and tea making facilities. We went out and bought mugs, coffee, tea and milk. Later that day they put a fridge in our room. At dinner on the second night were asked to sign a receipt for drinks bought that day from the bar that we never ordered but were being charged to our room. Another couple at the next table had the same problem that night being asked to sign for drinks they didn’t order. This rest of our holiday was fine, the complex was clean and tidy and there were plenty of food choices at breakfast and dinner. The cleaning staff made a good job of keeping our room clean and tidy and they always cheerful and polite. Unlike the waiters and reception staff. On our last day we asked to keep our room on after twelve o’clock so we could have showers and get changed as we were not getting picked up to go to the airport until seven pm. They said this was not possible as the hotel was full. We put our cases in the luggage room but the room was so full the door didn’t close and the cases spilled out into the reception area. We waited over an hour to get into the shower room to find that the room was a mess and there were no clean towels for us to use. I managed to track down a cleaner and she gave me clean towels. We were only in the room five minutes when reception phone us and told as to hurry as there was a lot of people waiting. We had three calls in the fifteen minutes my husband and I were using the room.
