Dit hotel is gevestigd in een herenhuis en ligt middenin een mooie tuin, op een rotspunt boven de levendige haven van Funchal. Het heeft de ideale ligging om de enerverende hoofdstad van het eiland te verkennen of te genieten van een ontspannen vakantie. Bij de Quinta hoort een direct aan het strand gelegen (circa 100 meter) zusterhotel. Dit is niet ver van het hotel, en u kunt hier alle voorzieningen gebruiken. Het mooie Santa Catarina Stadtpark bereikt u na ongeveer 5 minuten lopen, het stadscentrum met vele winkelmogelijkheden bevindt zich op een loopafstand van ongeveer 10 minuten. Aansluiting op het openbaar vervoer vindt u in de onmiddellijke omgeving (circa 500 meter). De transfertijd naar de luchthaven Funchal is ongeveer 40 minuten.Dit familievriendelijke hotel van de hogere categorie heeft in een 3 verdiepingen tellend hoofdgebouw en een bijgebouw van 4 verdiepingen met in totaal 109 kamers. Een ontvangsthal biedt u een 24 uur per dag geopende receptie, hotelkluizen, geldwisselmogelijkheid en liften. Het beschikt over een café, een pub in typisch Ierse stijl met biljarttafel en televisie-hoek, een van airconditioning voorzien à la carte restaurant met terras, rookvrij gedeelte en kinderstoelen, conferentiezalen en een openbare internetterminal. Verder beschikken de gasten over room- en wasservice, medische dienst en is er voor de kinderen een speeltuin. A charming experience

This hotel has an old fashioned charm, we found the staff helpful and keen to help. It is a great position a quick walk to the harbour and into town, a good place to be the centre for a holiday, many buses and coach and boat tours nearby. Will have to come back.

Once again a great holiday in agreat hotel have stayed here many times. The breakfast is great , staff are helpful and special mention should go to Joes bar in particular silva and George. The pool staff at the lower pool meet you with towels and move your parasols during the day to the movement of the sun . Such a relaxed and enjoyable holiday. Cannot wait for next year

Good Value, Great Location, Good Facilities and Excellent Parking

Hotel Quinta Da Penha De Franca is within it's own complex and is up the hill from its sister hotel Quinta Penha de Franca Mar. You can use the facilities within Quinta Penha de Franca Mar as well. Both are linked together by means of a private bridge which goes over the road, this is pretty seamless, but you do have to go out the door of the De Franca and buzz back in, but too much of an issue. Quinta Da Penha De Franca is set within gardens and has a heated pool which can be used, complimentary pool towels provided. You can also use the pool at Franca Mar which is unheated, but was still warm enough, and is salt water, from here you also have direct private access to the sea. Rooms are of a good size, I would recommend staying in the main complex rooms. There are around 4 rooms which are around Rooms 40-44 which are separate from the main complex, that can be nice, but note the Irish Bar is just over the wall, so can be a little noisy at times. Rooms were clean, air conditioning good, TV and mini bar, which if you want to indulge was good value. Beds were big, and very comfy which helped for a good nights sleep. Room Service is also available, though oddly no complimentary tea & coffee provided in the room, which I would expect in a four star. The location is excellent, on the edge of the hotel area means a short walk into town, and short walk to other restaurants and bars in the hotel district so a real positive. Parking is also very good, they have a large free to use carpark, so brilliant if you are planning to hire a car to explore the island like we did, we had no issues parking. Breakfast was also very good, a mix of continental, Portuguese and cooked buffet options. Service was friendly and overall a very enjoyable stay was had.
