Great location and comfortable, well equipped rooms but the real highlight was the staff who were both very friendly and extremely helpful, facilitating a room move on the first day without any fuss and making a point of remembering you without being intrusive. We will definitely be returning - thanks for a great stay.

What a delightful 4 days we had here at the Churchill Pousada!! The staff was extremely attentive in all respects from all departments: reception, housekeeping, and dining. Mena, the manager, was extremely attentive to satisfying our desires. Reception personnel Joana, Isabel, and Guilherme always greeted us with smiling faces and were eager to assist us in our daily activities. Dining room staff Luciano, Nuno, and Leandro were great in anticipating our needs at the excellent breakfast buffet and during the superb dinner under the accommodating and culinary trained Chef Diago in their Pier One dining room. Being in the small harbor fishing village of Câmara de Lobos was a delight. We used the nearby hop on/hop off bus to travel the southern part of the island, and we got to appreciate not being in the crazy busy hotel/condo area of Funchal. On this 3 week visit to Portugal, we had previously stayed at four other Pousadas and a 5 Star hotel. This Churchill Pousada was the best of the Pousadas and service was equal to the 5 Star we stayed at in Porto. Muito obrigado Churchill Pousada!!

A beautiful hotel, great location and super helpful staff. The breakfast buffet lacked nothing, and they would cook omelette or fried egg to order. Reception arranged for a hire car , brilliant service. We received wine in the room to celebrate our wedding anniversary too! Thoroughly enjoyed our 2cweeks in room 118
