Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station is een gloednieuw hotel, gelegen naast station Amsterdam Sloterdijk, met directe trein-, bus-, tram- en metroverbindingen naar het centrum van Amsterdam en Schiphol. Binnen 5 minuten bent u al bij het Amsterdam Centraal Station of het RAI congrescentrum. Het hotel ligt dicht bij de snelweg A10 en heeft een eigen parkeergelegenheid. U heeft een prachtig uitzicht vanaf de Skybar en het restaurant op de 8ste verdieping.

Room for improvement
When I need to stay over in Amsterdam for business I usually try to book this hotel. Compared with previous experience there is room for improvements all over. Check in: the check in was dine by a very friendly lady. I already did the online check-in hence everything went smooth. Room: the room looked good, there where plenty of towels and a variety of pillows. It felt that the room given was a standard room (as booked). There was a coffee machine and fridge in the closed cabinet. I felt this cabinet could use some cleaning as there was some dust flying around when opening the cabinet. Loyal guest service: I’ve stayed in the hotel as an Accor Diamond member. Upon check-in I was given a voucher for the welcome drink and a voucher for 10% discount. Although the welcome voucher was for Gold members and the discount for Platinum members, I did like that the hotel could tailor to the level. Although a room upgrade usually is given for my loyalty level, I believe the upgrade to a Privilege room was not given this time. A welcome gift was also not part of the service, maybe this was the discount voucher? Not sure, however definitely not according to the standards I am used too with Accor hotels. - I did stay in the hotel on a Sunday and the hotel bar en restaurant was closed! Very disappointing as I was looking forward to have a drink in the nice sky bar. I didn’t want to use the welcome drink voucher to get a free drink in a bottle from the reception so I kept the voucher till the next morning. - Breakfast was not included in my booking, however as I did many times before I decided to quickly walk to the restaurant to ask for a free orange juice in the morning (as welcome drink). As I quickly walked towards the restaurant (which was on the same floor as my room) and as there were no slippers I just quickly went on bare feet. When I arrived in the restaurant the lady started to speak to me like I was a child, saying I am not allowed to enter on bare feet. I apologized and told her I just like to ask an orange juice with the voucher. She kept on telling me with an angry voice and in a way as if she was talking to a child “no, first go away and take on your shoes and then come back”. Also she told me I cannot use the voucher for breakfast, it’s only for the afternoon and evening. That moment I was done with it, also I was in a rush as I had to get dressed well and go to the office. So again I asked her, sorry but can you just please get me an orange juice, I’m a Diamond member and I just really only want to get 1 orange juice. Then the lady took the voucher and said oke I will give it but usually you cannot get it. After which I told her I usually always get it when I stay in the hotel. She then gave me a glass of delicious orange juice, I said thank you and that I would bring back the glass. Then the ladies mood was changed and she responded friendly that this was not needed and that I could leave my glass in the room. And she told me enjoy it. I do understand that it may not have been decent to quickly walk on bare feet, however the way I was addressed was not appropriate at all. I hope the management will be able to improve service. The price is higher then before but the service went down.

We came to Amsterdam to visit the Vermeer exhibition. I am 72, my friend is already 80. We had seperate rooms. The hotel is comfortable. The staff was very friendly and willing to help. I especially liked the breakfast-restaurant on the 8th floor, that allows a wonderful view. The choice is rich. However there is one problem. The design of the inside follows a style that was fashionable several years ago: dark walls and spotlights that struggle against the darkness. Especially for the elderly this is not ideal. Nevertheless I will return to this hotel in case I make another journey to Amsterdam. Thanks for everything !
Issue with fees & taxes - but great stay
Ideal location , 2 minutes walk from train Station to hotel , spar was very handy for breakfast food/ coffee, yogurt, fruit etc The only issue I had was , I booked the hotel with Agoda, and the price I paid agoda included taxes & fees, I only had to pay 22 euro for a tourist tax at the hotel , but on arrival I was told I had to pay 65 euro , when I explained that I already paid this as its included in my payment to Agoda, the manager of mercure told me , no , payments are always paid to the hotel on arrival - so I paid just so I could get into my room, I emailed Agoda, they assured me this should not have happened, the hotel should really figure this out as Agoda are still advertising mercure hotel with the price that included fees & taxes - I'm wondering how many people have booked through Agoda and also not realised they have been charged fees & taxes again at the hotel !! - not sure who is at fault - hotel or Agoda, but whoever it is it needs sorting as I wasted a half day of my trip trying to sort this
