An Amazing Stay!!
Room - We stayed in room 9.13, this was a twin taste room. Situated with two single beds, a safe, a shower/bath, a safe and a gorgeous view. I have to say these beds were the most comfortable beds we have ever stayed in and the best nights sleep we’ve had in a long time, it really felt like we were sleeping on a cloud. Another great addition to the room we found was the flat screen tv which allowed you to play youtube or cast from your phone in which you can use your own Netflix. An amazing addition which we’ve never experienced previously! There was cleaners who came to your room each day to change bedding, empty bins and replenish towels and toilet rolls. If you didn’t want to be disturbed when you were in your room the cleaners would always come back around when you’re out, to clean, again a service we’ve never experienced before. Location - We found this location to be perfect, public transport was really accessible and ran till late night/early morning which was ideal for us and only took around 10 mins to Amsterdam Centraal! The hotel is situated alongside a massive street of shops, food places and supermarkets which we also found extremely useful! Hotel- We found the hotel to be modern, clean and really nice overall, on floor 2 they have a wellness centre with a pool and i believe a gym? i thought this was a helpful addition however we did not utilise this. On floor 3, situated a vending machine but this did not work and left us a bit annoyed, this was not fixed from the day we arrived to the day we left even though staff were aware! The bar is not 24 hours and the mini fridge is not stocked so if you’re thirsty or hungry on a night you don’t have any options unfortunately. Furthermore, shops nearby do close quite early too so i’d recommend stocking your room up during the day which we did end up doing. Other than this issue we found staff to be really attentive and friendly. Overall- Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and will be choosing this hotel for our next trip to Amsterdam. We found this hotel great value for money and would like to try a room with a sauna next time we stay! This hotel would be a 5 stars if not the issue with the vending machine.
Useless Staff on Reception
This was my second stay at the hotel, and I must say it’s gone down hill since my last visit in 2018. The hotel in itself is lovely. It’s quirky, aesthetically cool, tastefully decorated, faultlessly located and clean, however the service (or startling lack of) really lets it down. The reception staff were totally useless! Upon check-in, I asked where I could find the stairs (rather than using the lift). I was bluntly told that I couldn’t use the stairs as ‘all of the doors would need to be opened.’ …??? Surely that’s a health and safety risk? What would happen in the event of a fire? Would everyone just be expected to burn to death while the reception staff got off their backsides and opened doors?! Totally bizarre! Never heard anything so odd! I have a genuine fear of lifts and was not happy that I didn’t have a choice but to use them. Waiting times for the two lifts were also ridiculous. When I checked out, I asked if there was a facility whereby I could print my boarding pass. Again, staff looked confused by my question and mumbled something about not being able to. Again - never experienced this before, either! Most hotels are more than obliging to help in the printing of travel documents. I have done a lot of travelling and have stayed in hundreds of hotel, and I have NEVER come across a hotel that doesn’t have access to stairs, or a printer! The unwillingness to help was pretty shocking. I think the reception team needs a serious overhaul. In contrast, the cleaning staff were absolutely lovely - extremely friendly and cheerful.
Lovely hotel close to windmills!
We decided to visit this area simply for the unique architecture of this hotel and surrounding area. The junior suite had a plush mattress and my husband enjoyed using the in room sauna. The true gem of this place is the restaurant manager Benji who brought me ice wrapped in a towel for (my sprained ankle) on two occasions. He showed us the meaning of hospitality! For those with a sweet tooth I highly recommend the mascarpone dessert with fruit compote.
