Nice Hotel on the Hillside

The hotel is built on the hillside (Marjan in Split), which makes access a little difficult, though it has many parking places outside, and we never had a problem with that. It does, however, force you to have a car or some means of transportation to reach the vibrant parts of the city (nothing much to do around the hotel). The building is made of 2 parts, 4 floors each part with its own small elevator. There is an external pool and an internal tiny covered one, near a gym. Note there are rooms with or without a balcony/view (and of course they cost differently). Ours had a balcony with a view, which was rather beautiful - overlooking the sea and the hill's slopes (and also the roofs of some adjacent buildings...) The room was quite large, with old style furniture, and the bed was comfortable. There was a bath with a shower that provided a formidable stream of water. I have to say they didn't bother to replenish the shampoo and soap once used. A rich breakfast is served downstairs, in what turns into a good restaurant in the evening (Rocco). The evening menu is great and tasty, though expensive. It looks like the restaurant hosts events in some of the evenings.

Lovely stay at this hotel last week. Due to travel delays and an accident on top of an existing injury a few days before traveling, I arrived mid-evening to find I was allocated a room on the fourth floor with room amenities I couldn't manage. Even though they were almost at capacity and after literally running around, reception managed to sort something more suitable for me for the night and I was reallocated the next day to a lovely room with fantastic sea views for the rest of my stay. The best points have to be the super friendly staff - special shout out to Simon who took customer service to another level, the views and the general ambiance of the place which was quiet and relaxing and just what I needed. Minor niggles would be that like most of what I encountered in Split, it isn't disabled-friendly and this hotel is on a hill, not all rooms have walk-in showers (note to call ahead if you need this), and (being a Brit) no "proper" tea or milk in the rooms!
