Met uitzicht op een Venetiaans kanaal, op slechts een steenworp afstand van het San Marcoplein, Dit hotel ligt in het hart van Venetië. A good place to stay when visiting the lovely city of Venice!

We got off to a little bit of a rocky start when we were given a room with a seriously tiny bathroom, and the room itself wasn’t particularly nice. The good news was that the owner offered us another room for the rest of our stay (4 nights total) that was much nicer, with a much bigger bathroom. However, be warned that ( apparently) all the showers are the same - very small, and the sinks are also the same - very small. You have to be creative about placing toiletries, etc. Otherwise everything was very good - breakfast, cleaning of room and bathroom every day, really nice, helpful staff. The location is a reasonable walk to the sites ( I think EVERYTHING in Venice is worth looking at) and it was super quiet. Be warned that ( I assume) when there is halfway decent warm weather, breakfast is in a lovely courtyard, BUT, it was very chilly in early May, AND, there are pigeons that walk around on top of a plastic sheet covering the eating area, and they sometimes fly into the eating area! This wasn’t a real problem for us but be aware of this.

Amazing welcome from John the receptionist who was extremely pleasant, likeable, knowledgeable and helpful. Classic room 307 was very small such you were unable to pass around the bed. It was extremely hot in April with heat coming from carpeted floor.A problem the hotel is aware of!! Shower room extremely small.water pressure caused the temperature to change from cool to scalding hot without warning, a problem with the other room too.A high risk of burns. First night wife had lots of mosquito bites.Bought insect repellent and with fan in room on second night I got more than 20 bites.Could see mosquitoes in room killing at least 2 with Blood on the wall.Wall was washable so blood gone. Next day demanded room change and John was helpful . While out staff moved our belongings to a larger room that was cooler and mosquito free. Had an amazing nights sleep with larger bathroom.If we had been given this room then we would have been more than happy. The size of room was not the issue but the visible signs of mosquitoes and bites and the heat from the floor. This needs to be addressed. Breakfast was in a very small area,basic food but adequate for me.spotlessly clean table and linen. All staff were extremely pleasant and helpful from porters to breakfast. Like in most cities I expect this hotel too would find it difficult to cope with the heat,so beware. A.C. Is not switched on till May,but by then this old solid hotel has stored all the heat given off by the occupants with windows closed to stop mosquitoes.Come summer I don’t think AC could cope but I could be wrong. So to summarise,a very nice hotel In good location in relation to San Marcus square.It is extremely clean with courteous helpful staff. As you are next to a canal,being Venice,there is a higher risk of mosquitoes and bites despite repellent which we used .Watch out for the fluctuations in temperature of shower, cool to very hot without warning.And obviously expect to be Hot.Avoid room 307! Once again many thanks to John at reception.

Suitable stay in a good location

I was located a little walk away from the main reception. Good position between the Rialto bridge and St Marks square though. Both walkable within a 10 minute walk. Good room and facilities. Lacking tea and coffee making facilities though which is a must for a weary traveller. Clean room and in good condition with a good running hot shower. Lights in the room were on sensors that kept going off when I moved in bed so had to remove the card key from the socket to kill the lights. Then when the neighbours came back and turned the bed side light on it was turning my lamp on and off. Clearly been wired up incorrectly. Breakfast was the let down. Poor quality items. Even the croissants were terrible. Seemed that everything was really cheap quality.
