The most beautiful views you will ever see, but the rooms and absolutely awful

This hotel has the most breathtaking views, truly the most beautiful location we have ever stayed in, and all rooms have a sea view. It's second to none to wake up too, we had 2 balconies. The staff are friendly and its family run. Brilliant hourly shuttle into Amalfi, gorgeous pool, amazing breakfast. but there is a reason the bell boys walks you straight through the room and onto the balcony..... Cons - the rooms are very basic, probably the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in, rock hard, no mini bar, no fridge, no phone, no water. Our aircon broke and leaked everywhere, the shower was awful and spurted everywhere. Rooms are run down, paints peeling off the walls which is such a shame as the hotel is actually nice. I don't regret going but the rooms really need some attention but the views made you forget how awful the rooms were.

The most fabulous hotel

I returned to the Excelsior after last visiting over 10 years ago and it remains a fantastic base from which to explore the stunning Amalfi coast. The service is wonderful, the rooms are spacious and offer the most breathtaking views and the cocktail bar is a fabulous new edition. It's great they provide a shuttle bus to and from Amalfi town centre as well. Will definitely be returning here.

Beautiful hotel in Amalfi

We stayed here for 6 days in May 2022 and had a fantastic time. The staff were amazing. The rooms were clean and very spacious. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and sitting outside on the terrace with that amazing view in the morning - wow. The regular shuttle to and from the township was fast and easy. After dining out for the evening, we would arrive back at the hotel and have a nightcap at the bar. Would return to this hotel in heartbeat.
