Great hotel, nice, friendly staff, adults only hotel, good selection of hot/cold buffet food and drinks, all areas are very clean. Points to note: safe boxes in main reception £2.50 per day, lost room key are charged for (€25), beach/sunbed towels chargeable (bring your own) towels from room or sunbed reservation not permitted. You can hire a mini fridge at €3 per day. Tea/coffee making facilities are not available in the room. Bus into Rethymno or Panormos €1.60 per adult, each way, tickets available from Reception. Please note that hotel is definitely NOT suitable for anyone with walking difficulties, it has a lot of stairs!! Mosquito repellent is a must, though the hotel does not have a problem with mossies, there are plenty around!

Very friendly staff always there to help. Very clean. Food was lovely and always something for vegetarians. Bar staff were amazing and made some great cocktails. We were worried about coming as some of the reviews are not very nice but we couldn’t find anything bad to say. Can’t wait to come again x

Assaulted by hotel management!

On Saturday 11th June 2022 our flight was delayed. Due to this delay we reached to our hotel on Sunday 12th June 2022. This meant we missed out on a whole day which we should not have, as we booked and paid for our hotel from the 11th till 15th June 2022. Our transfer bus did not even drop us off at our hotel. Instead we were dropped off in the middle of the motorway and were forced to drag our luggage up a narrow hill and several flights on stairs. Please note that I have a disability that impacts my mobility and restricts my leg movements. Moving on to the next problem that occurred as soon as we checked in was the incompetent hotel staff members. The hotel had no lifts and our room 323 was a long and steep walk. We had no help to assist our luggage or ourselves to our room. The main door of our room was jammed and we spent a great deal of our time trying to get inside with the rusty metal room keys. The room was nothing like the photos advertised on your website. Our bed was covered in bugs and the walls had insect corpses covered in spider webs. The floor was sticky and not hoovered. Our balcony door would not close properly which impacted our sleep as we did not feel safe. We had no mini fridge in our room, no water, no clean towels, no tissues, no working air-con, no wi-fi and no phone to call reception. On the second day of our holiday until the last day of our holiday, the hotel had an issue with their water supply. This meant that we had NO running water. We could not flush the toilet, shower or wash our hands. We were forced to brush our teeth at the beach. We are both vegetarians due to our health conditions and disability. However we also faced difficulties in relation to the hotels food. The lack of vegetarian food meant we could not eat anything for breakfast, lunch or dinner despite paying for a full board package. Starving in a hotel room with no working water and bed bugs biting our skin was something we had to endure throughout our stay. We didn't have room service and were told abruptly by the receptionists that we would have to use our towels that were given to us on arrival for the remaining of our holiday unless we paid for them. This applied to the shower/body gel and soap bars. We spent a tedious amount of time arguing with the receptionists as they were not willing to help or even acknowledge our problems. We were promised a new room which they also failed to provide. On Tuesday 14th June 2022 around 5pm, we were assaulted and kicked out of Skaleta hotel by their staff members. After the receptionist refused to help us, we went to look for a manager. We were knocking politely on the door of the managers office which is when he came marching out and aggressively grabbed my fiancé’s right arm and continuously pushed her down the corridor. He was screaming in our faces and threatened to punch us if we didn't leave the hotel. We had to pay 250 euros for a new hotel for that night, a taxi to our new hotel for the night, and a taxi to the airport the next morning as we could not use our transfer buses which we had already paid for, despite contacting your customer service on the very same day to inform them that we were homeless and stranded on holiday after being assaulted.
