A lovely week at Sotiris studios.

Lovely holiday, great staff, lovely food great location. We visited Sotiris studios on a late break. The location is located just a mile from the airport but don’t let that bother you. Flights are very far and few between and the peace is disturbed for about 30 seconds and that’s it. I think in our entire stay the most we heard was about 5 flights all day. The staff are superb, nothing is too much trouble and extremely helpful. We opted for b&b with our tour operator however we upgraded to half board once we arrived and it was definitely worth it. The food was lovely and plenty of choice with a daily special. If you fancied a bit of something more special ie a steak platter you could pay a small premium. We enjoyed every meal we had. The room was a little dated however it was very clean and fit for purpose, the bed was very firm but we slept extremely well and was very comfortable. There’s a lovely sandy safe beach about 5 minutes walk from the complex which is very safe for children and there is a beach bar which you could hire 2 sun beds and a parasol for €10 a day. The planes fly right over the beach however as I’ve said already they are few and far between. The area doesn’t have much around other than a couple of small supermarkets just up the road and a few tavernas. There’s a bus that goes to Argostoli with the bus stop again just 5 minutes walk up the road. €2 per adult anywhere and goes on a circle route. When I say a bus it literally is just one bus doing the route. Check out the times if you do decide to take a trip on the bus as there’s a big break in the service from 3:30pm until 7:30pm which is the last bus. If you miss that then it’s a taxi ride back. We hired a car for 3 days which I think is a must and wished that I’d hired it for the whole week. We used Pefanis car hire 3 days for €70 no deposit required fully insured and they delivered and collected the car from the complex. I really highly recommend them if you’re thinking of hiring a car. There are lots of hire car companies available locally and we saw more hire cars than local cars driving. Driving is extremely easy, the roads are very quiet. We drove to Myrtos beach, you have to drive through the mountains which can be a bit hair raising at times but take it easy, don’t get worried by any local taxi drivers who may try to tailgate you, just pull over where safe and they’ll overtake you. We really enjoyed our stay at Sotiris and can’t recommend it enough, it’s peaceful if that’s what’s you want, if you like it a bit more lively then try elsewhere. We’d certainly return.

A must stay

I’ve been visiting Kefalonia for a number of years, this is by far my favourite place to stay. From the moment you arrive a warm welcome from the family awaits, right to the moment you leave nothing is too much trouble. I chose bed and breakfast but had the facility to cook in my room as well.. The studios are clean and tidy, beds are comfy and the showers are the best I’ve used. I loved that I could see the mountains at the entrance and watch the sun set over the sea in the evening from my balcony. During the day the sun loungers are super comfy with the bar in easy reach, Dionisis made a great coffee and Catlin was super friendly and able to advise on any questions I had. Location wise it’s perfectly placed to catch the local bus (2euros) to Argostoli or wander down to the beach. Favourite dishes were pancakes / Greek salad / prawn souvlaki. There are nightly traditional Greek specials so the menu stayed varied and the price very reasonable, with generous portions. There was a real mix of age groups staying at the studios , but always a warm, friendly atmosphere. as a solo traveller it was great to meet new people but to also have quiet time too. I’ve always felt incredibly safe on the island and this holiday was no exception- in fact my trip is booked for next year to return to this special place with some of the warmest people I have ever met.

On arrival no one knew where reception was It's between the bar and the restaurant in a cupboard ha Staff very friendly I got the furthest block away .. in-between the reeds and the dumping ground for old and broken sunbeds ..block c ..or Cell block H as we called it ...bins were changed every day but not cleaned every day..basic cooking equipment Got bitten to death by mosquitos even with plug ins ..spray and creams Loads of wasps And on the direct path to the landing strip of the airport..which is handy No TV which was great ... Limited WiFi which didn't bother me Very expensive!! Pasta was microwaved but breakfast was very nice..toasted sandwiches were good too Close to bus stop and local tavernas Very quiet ..if you want something more lively don't stay here Pools were lovely if not cold Sun beds were tired and sinking in a bit Beach is lovely Wish I'd hired a car but was told by agent the damage waiver was a grand cash ..but isn't the case if you shop around A few people complained about the rooms and got moved to the main blocks over looking the pool which seemed nicer I'm glad I didn't pay alot for this holiday and was quite disappointed But had a chilled out week reading my book and being bitten by mozzies Enjoy
