Door de ideale ligging in het stadscentrum van Athene, is dit stadshotel slechts 300 meter van het metrostation Monastiraki verwijderd, met directe verbinding naar de luchthaven en de haven van Piraeus. Het hotel ligt dichtbij de musea, de vlooienmarkt, de Akropolis en het Syntagmaplein, terwijl de taveernes, restaurants en winkels in de buurt tot laat geopend zijn. Het Omoniaplein met busstation ligt op slechts 200 meter van dit stadshotel en het treinstation Larissa ligt op ongeveer 3 km afstand. De luchthaven Eleftherios Venizelos ligt op ongeveer 30 km afstand.Dit 54 kamers tellende hotel met avant-gardistisch design is buitengewoon origineel. Dit, door de groep 3SK, Griekenlands toonaangevende hotelarchitecten, ontworpen van airconditioning voorziene hotel kiest een andere weg dan traditionele accommodatie. De 3SK architectengroep hebben bij de inrichting gebruik gemaakt van kiwi-, oceaanblauwe, aardbeien-, citroen- en mandarijnkleuren, samen met de bijzondere schilderijen van Corrina O'Brien. De naam van het hotel verwijst naar zijn centrale locatie. Het dakterras biedt panoramazicht over de Akropolis, de heuvel van Lycabetus en Phillopapou. Dit in 2009 gerenoveerde stadshotel telt 54 kamers en biedt zijn gasten een ontvangsthal met 24 uur per dag geopende receptie en uitcheckservice, een lift, een ontbijtruimte, draadloze internettoegang en een wasservice (tegen betaling).

Rude front office staff

The 'stretch-your-arms-and-you-will-hit-the walls' sized rooms was not the worst thing about this hotel, nor were the leaky basins and electrical wiring in the bathrooms that was dangling dangerously. Then what was? The rude, in fact, downright humiliating behaviour of the front office staff (a guy named Andrew) when there was some problem with our booking. Read on... We had made our bookings way back in Feb end. We were to go to Meteora on May 01 and return back on the next day to Athens. Since we had the booking in place, naturally we did not checkout while we left. So it came as a rude shock on May 02 when we returned, on being told that we do not have a reservation, that we should have checked out, blah blah. We were made to feel like an unwanted guest who had overstayed, even when I showed the booking confirmation, the 'confirmed' status of the booking on the app, and told the person that we had not made any cancellation of the same. The rude behaviour really upset us and put us off. So we asked them to just give us back our bags so that we could stay elsewhere. Imagine what they did to make matters worst - they asked us to pay EUR 70 just to release our bags. So we paid half days room rent for 2 rooms just to get our bags back, on a booking made on Feb 25 by paying in advance the full amount!!! We asked for evidence to show they had received cancellation request from the booking partners, but till date, we have not received that evidence. they just kept telling 'our system shows there's a cancellation' - based on what, we don't know!! Congratulations, Athen Center Square hotel, and particularly Andrew, for letting us have the worst experience of our Greece trip! I wonder if Andrew's attitude and behaviour would have been the same if we were Caucasians (read: White)!?! Thankfully, our stays after this one were very enjoyable. The only saving grace for this hotel was the breakfast buffet.

Great breakfast and friendly helpful staff

Staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed 2 nights before a cruise and they were happy for us to return and store our luggage for the day when we got back (we had a late flight) for no charge. The breakfast had a great selection and was very good. The rooms are quite basic but clean and provide all the essentials. The location is close to all the main sites and the staff are on hand to offer advice. I would highly recommend.

Hotel Itself Not Bad But In Filthy Neighborhood

I stayed for 2 nights at a room with a good view of the Acropolis. The room is acceptable to me, enough space, cleanliness not bad, bed ok and I slept well, with hairdryer and some toiletries (no teeth brush or paste), quite a number of TV channels which I enjoy. There's air conditioning but I turned it off and enjoy the fresh air with windows opened. I couldn't locate the entrance of the hotel on the first occasion as the glass doors are painted like a supermarket with colourful fruits and vegetables. The elevators are very old fashioned tiny and only accommodate 2 persons at a time. I saw and used this kind before, so not felt scared. Breakfast quite good. Staff nice polite and helpful. The roof is worth visiting as one can see the neighborhood (filthy though) and the beautiful Acropolis at a distance). It's next to a local market so not in a clean and tidy neighborhood. There's a row of fresh fruits and vegetables stall in front of the hotel. Good quality and excellent price. No unpleasant harassment met when I (a solo female with Asian face) was in and out of the hotel though. Noise came out every evening from the roof bars of nearby hotels/ inns (but this is Athens! Noisy as usual at night). That said, my room which is on 7th floor is not noisy (roof bar of this hotel is 9th floor). About transportation, can reach metro station on foot by 5 mins (a transfer station for 2 lines). Athens city is walkable anyway. Overall, I think people have to expect that this hotel is located in a rather filthy area which may not fit some tourists. But the price has compensated this bad character.
