Second time at Hard Rock Punta Cana
Overall the staff is very very friendly. Some language barriers as to be expected. Food was good, not great. Was levels better pre covid. Very limited seafood menus surprisingly this time around. Lobster was only serves at an additional cost. The grounds are large, beautiful and immaculately kept. Pools for everyone from fun party pools to family friendly pools to quiet adult only pools. Casino was fun but don't expect players points like gained in Vegas or USA/Canada.
An amazing beach vacation, but Hard Rock could improve
So, I was very close to giving three starts not four because there were a lot of "little things" that I would have overlooked were this not a five star resort, but it is. You don't get much room for error. But the beach and the weather were so perfect. So God helped you out here. Pros: Beach - The beach is BEAUTIFUL. The water is pristine, clear, and the temperature was perfect for going in when we were there. The sand is so soft - no evidence of the rocky sand at all. The chairs, umbrellas, little shady huts, and towels were plentiful. They never ran out, nor did we find ourselves without amenities. The employees on the beach came looking for you to offer drinks, not vice versa. There was always a food truck near if you needed snacks. Activities - There's so much to do - from clubs, to the casino, to shows, to bowling, to entertainers in the common areas, to exercise classes, to pool parties, music, volleyball games, dance parties. I mean there's a list of activities happening pretty much hourly. Many are included or cheap, and there is something for everyone - from the group who came to party to the couples who just want to sit on the patio and enjoy scenery. There are also reasonably priced excursions if that is your jam, but really, they are not needed. Rooms: The rooms are spacious and pretty. I found the beds to be comfortable. I LOVED the bathroom which included a separate area for the toilet, a shower which had two distinct shower heads, a line for drying your swimsuits, and an area to sit comfortably on - if you so choose. The water temperature was good, and so was the water pressure. The towels were soft, the shampoo, conditioner, etc were plentiful and decent. The tub on the patio with the jet streams was AMAZING! The grounds: The grounds were well-kept, just beautiful from the front to the back. No detail was left out no matter where your room was located. The employees: They were helpful, polite and friendly. We were there for the Phillips/Alexander wedding. Our server (I'm sorry, but I forgot his name). He was the fair skinned man with the light colored eyes. Anyway, he was outgoing, friendly, funny and a great dancer. We really enjoyed his presence. I'd also like to highlight Emilio, our server in the Market, for breakfast. We requested him because of his amazing service and attention to detail. CONS - Again small, but a five star, expensive resort should not have many, and you did. The food - Hard Rock, you need some help here. The best way I can describe the food is edible. Breakfast saved me. Thank God for the omelette station and American breakfast station. Oh, your fruit is amazing, but again, I think that is God's gift. We sampled many of your restaurants for lunch and dinner. The food needs help. Zen was the best because the sushi was good, and the show (cooking demonstration was good). The liquor - At this stage in my life, I don't require much, but you advertise "drinks as included" and let's be honest, Hard Rock, we had virgin slurpees - delicious, sweet, plentiful slurpees, but if there was any alcohol in them, it was a teaspoon. Stop lying to people here. I mean, I get it. With a resort this size, you have to be careful, but do not advertise included drinks; instead, let people know where to buy their alcohol. The sidewalks - I found them incredibly slippery. I do not know how you fix this, but consider doing something other than putting up a bunch of "slippery" signs. POOL HOURS - 10 to 6, You are opening too late and closing too soon. You need at least a few late hour/early open pools. ROOM ISSUES: We had three people registered for our room; hence, this is why we chose a room with a sofa bed. Our third person came in later, did his own thing. I woke up to find him huddled on the sofa bed with NO linen. INEXCUSABLE. Every sofa bed should automatically have linen in the room. When we called for items like toothpaste or towels, you'd bring enough for two, not three. That's not okay. Check the reservation. Here's another thing. Once you confirm your guests have a room, STOP holding their luggage hostage. Either have enough people on staff to take those bags, or allow people to take their own bags, if they so choose. Giver them a QR code that explains the trolley, and let them go. No one who has been in traveling through airports for hours wants to wait more for luggage such that your employees can get tips. And you need a maximum amount of times your timeshare/vacation package sales people can pester people. I have an idea - "Two no's and go." Leave people alone. If they want it, they will buy it. Last, I realize this is routine for resorts, but I am tired of it. The lobby for guests who have checked out and are awaiting transportation (that they probably paid you for) should be just as comfortable as the one for guests checking in. Put more employees there, so people do not have to wait in long lines, and put chairs there, in the AC, for people who choose to wait inside. Stop "pushing" people outside to wait in the heat, on the concrete wall. It will not cost you much to extend fair service right up until the point that your guests get on the bus. And for God's sake, do not try to sell guests anything on the way out. The last thing they need are those high pressure sales tactics while they are on our way to that concrete wall you push us them to. PUT SOME CHAIRS IN THE CHECKOUT LOBBY AREA. Now, as stated earlier, the resort is beautiful. I had a wonderful time. I loved it, but in truth, a four star experience at a five star resort with five star prices is not okay. And God earned you that fourth star.
Great hotel
Very nice experience in the hotel, we had fun, the pools are plentiful. And the beach is beautiful. The weather was also really nice and the staff was super attentive and helpful. We went in activities outside the hotel and all was very organized
