Kerala Holidays

Sandwiched between the Arabic Sea and the Western Ghats, Kerala is slice of India that has drawn travellers and explorers for hundreds of years. A mix of astounding natural beauty, mouth-watering cuisine and warm hospitality, it was named by the National Geographic as one of the ten paradises of the world.

The pristine backwaters of Kumarakom and Kuttanad, a web of canals and lagoons surrounded by rice paddies, coconut groves and tiny villages, are the treasure in the south of India, while further north, the spectacular cliffs of Varkala beckon to explored.

The hills below are covered with tea and spice plantations. Also home to some exotic wildlife and enchanting forests, they amaze anyone who visits, while the immaculate sandy beaches that stretch along the south coast are a magnet for sun-worshippers.

A land with a colourful history, Kerala echoes with its colonial past. Chinese visitors, Portuguese traders and Jewish settlers have all left their mark. Even so, the vibrant traditions of the region have not been lost, and authentic dance, martial arts and song are present in abundance.
