Egypt Holidays

For so many years, Egypt was considered a country full of ancient history & mystique, and not particularly a place to visit unless you were an archaeologist with lots of time and money on your hands. While it’s true that this is a country which tops the lists of breathtaking sightseeing places, (who hasn’t heard of the Great Pyramid, the Sphinx at the Giza Plateau, Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Karnak, Aswan, and Cairo?), up until only a few short decades ago, with the exception of the well-established Nile Cruise  choices that were available, Egypt holiday packages were regarded as being rather lacking in modern facilities.

But all that began to change in the 1980s, when tourists started discovering that the Red Sea, and several of the fishing villages that lined it, offered amazing diving and snorkelling opportunities due to the clear-blue waters and totally amazing underwater vistas. In fact the coral reefs here are considered to be among the best in the world, and when water sports enthusiasts created an ever-increasing demand, Egypt responded by carefully developing a select number of beach resorts including El Gouna, Makadi Bay, Naama Bay and Sharm El Sheikh; resorts known collectively as belonging to a region now known as the Red Sea Riviera.

Now famous for their stunning location by sandy beaches, resorts on the Red Sea Riviera are benefitted by hotels and accommodation that are generally very high in standards and facilities. The Red Sea Riviera has only emerged as a tourist destination over the last 30 years or so, which means that standards of accommodation are often much higher as those you may see in other more established Mediterranean resorts who emerged in response to the explosion of mass tourism in the 1970s. And while Egypt’s holiday resorts offer many and varied in-resort facilities including bars, restaurants, cafes and clubs, you may find that much of your evening entertainment will be provided by your hotel, with entertainment teams, guest singers, and performers demonstrating local dances that will all add a little extra zip to your holiday.

Now that holidays to Egypt promise a flowering beach resort scene, it has to be considered as one of the greatest holiday destinations in the world. Surely nowhere else has this kind of combination of holiday deals; incredible beach resorts, modern hotels, stunning clean beaches, world-class diving & snorkelling, and a breathtaking concentration of wonderful historical sights to visit which means that Egypt will, as it always has, be revered as one of the world’s great sightseeing destinations. In fact, there are now more cheap holidays to Egypt than ever before.
