The long, pale sands of Skanes on Tunisia'a glorious sunny Eastern coast have long been a favourite with Europeans looking for a holiday in the sun. If a relaxing beach and hotel holiday is your preference then Skanes would make a great choice. Skanes is a suburb of Monastir where you can visit the impressive resting place of Tunisia's late president and take in the ancient Ribat which has been used as a set for several films including the Life Of Christ and The life of Brian. However, this sun drenched location could be overlooked as a great touring base. The great Mosque of Kairouan is within easy travelling distance and the bustling resort city of Sousse with its ancient medina is only 8km away and a little further to the South is the gigantic Roman Amphitheatre of El Djem.
