More holiday choice from Glasgow
Region’s biggest charter airline, Thomas Cook Airlines, offers Goa for the first time and extra flights to Tenerife, Lanzarote and Antalya
It’s good news for travellers who enjoy the convenience of flying from Glasgow Airport. Thomas Cook Airlines has announced a one-off flight to exotic Goa in India and extra choice on flights to Tenerife, Lanzarote and Antalya next year. The announcement comes as the Airline celebrated its busiest weekend ever earlier this month, when more than 22,000 holidaymakers took off to sunnier climes with Thomas Cook during the Great Glasgow Getaway.
Thomas Cook Airlines is the biggest charter airline to operate from Glasgow Airport and has reinforced its commitment to the region with its largest programme of destinations for next year. Flights to Goa have not been offered from Glasgow before and will operate on 1st April 2011 offering travellers in the region the option of a 14 night holiday.
For other Easter getaways, holidaymakers can head to either Lanzarote or Tenerife on 3rd April. For those who need an earlier break to escape the winter blues Tenerife is on offer on 2nd January 2011 and for a summer retreat, the Airline will operate an additional flight to the popular Turkish destination, Antalya, every Wednesday from 1st June to 19th October.
Frank Pullman, Managing Director of Thomas Cook Airlines, said: “Our 2011 programme from Glasgow Airport is our biggest and best because we want to offer travellers in the region a broad range of choice and flexibility. We’re pleased to offer Goa as an option next Easter and long haul travellers will be reassured that our ever-popular favourites like Las Vegas and Florida are featured for next year, whilst those who prefer destinations closer to home can enjoy holidays in Tunisia, Sharm el Sheikh and Turkey.”
Commenting on the success of the Great Glasgow Getaway, Frank continued: “For the past nine years, everyone at Thomas Cook Airlines has been very passionate about the Great Glasgow Getaway. It’s a huge challenge for us to operate so many flights in such a short space of time and we’re thrilled that this year has been a record-breaking success for us.”
Amanda McMillan, Managing Director of Glasgow Airport, said: "It's always exciting when our airlines add new destinations, particularly somewhere exotic like Goa. With the wide range of destinations already confirmed by Thomas Cook for 2011, we are looking forward to a very busy year."
She added: "The Great Glasgow Getaway was an immensely busy weekend for us, with thousands of passengers travelling on Thomas Cook flights to Mediterranean and Canaries sunshine. We are proud to have been part of Thomas Cook's busiest weekend ever, from any airport."
In 2011, Thomas Cook Airlines will operate flights to the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Madeira, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey, Egypt, Bulgaria, Mexico, Tunisia, USA, Cuba, Dominican Republic and India.
