Wonderful Adults Only Location
This hotel is a must if you're looking for a relaxing but top quality location. Although there is nothing near to this location other than other hotels, it's high quality in service & staff makes it number 1 in the Cayo's. The rooms are beautifully decorated & cleaned daily, with fresh towels & bedding changed on request (leave your towels in the bath & a card on the bed). The minibar is restocked daily but we found if you left a note (& a small tip) you got what you requested. Although there are coffee machines in each room we never used them but if you do want coffee items you just need to call/speak to reception & they will bring them to you instantly. The pool is very nice but not a "swimming" pool more of a cooling & lounging pool as it is only around 4ft max depth. The beach is wonderful. The staff are extremely helpful especially Silva, Yani, Beatrix. The entertainment staff are full of energy & put on great shows most nights but don't hassle you all the time which is great when you fancy a relaxing day by the pool or beach.
The Thomas Cook Rep Maria was both very helpful & a pleasure to deal with, she was helpful in every way. The trips we went on were good, but the Trinidad trip was a 4 hours there & 4 hours back in a coach. The place itself was OK but not that exciting, we did however totally enjoy seeing what Cuba's towns & villages where like as we drove to Trinidad. There where a lot of other trips which other people at the hotel went on & totally enjoyed & raved about them - speed boat riding, safari trip, Havana by coach, boat cruise.
All in all this hotel is excellent & I would highly recommend anyone to go.

A very friendly hotel in Cuba
We spent two weeks at the Melia Cayo Coco in Cuba and had a brilliant holiday. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and helped make our holiday one of the best we have had. The food in the buffet was great and there was always plenty of choice. The gardens are kept lovely. All-in-all we thoroughly enjoyed our fortnight and would not hesitate to recommend this holiday to anybody.

Wonderful Holiday in Cuba
Our first visit to Cuba. We combined our stay with a three-day visit to Havana, staying in the Melia Cohiba, then returning to the Melia Cayo Coco for the rest of our holiday. We were impressed with the resort and hotel. The service and facilities were excellent. We recommend this holiday, and would love to visit again.

A lovely hotel with the friendliest and most efficient staff - 10 stars for them!!
We have just returned from our fourth consecutive visit to the Melia, Cayo Coco. This is now quite an old hotel but each time we go we see even more improvements in the facilities, We stayed in one of the lagoon rooms, all of which, we understand have recently been refurbished with large walk in showers replacing the small baths. The food was even better this year than previous years and the choice was excellent. However the main purpose of this review is to make any couples wishing to marry abroad aware that the service offered by the Melia was second to none. We are a mature couple and were married at the start of our second week and the organisation, skill, efficiency and fantastic floral arrangements and bouquet were of the highest standard. We had a totally perfect day when everything was coordinated and detailed to the last ribbon around the cake and I cannot recommend this wonderful team highly enough. We took advantage of their "basic wedding package" and added in a few of the a la carte extras including a dvd of the ceremony and the champagne and cake reception after, followed by a stroll along the beach - all of which will bring tears to your eyes should you decide to take my advice and get married at the Melia!!

Good holiday but...
A two hour flight delay going to Cuba and a five hour delay coming home really took the shine off the holiday. We had a great holiday at the Melia in 2013 and looked forward to our return this year. I guess that the hotel has been looking to cut costs and this was obvious in respect of the food which was not of the 2013 standard. In 2013 a large roast would be one of the nightly offers (I remember one evening where they got through three of the largest roast turkeys I have ever seen). The roasts have virtually disappeared (now once a week) and have been replaced with things like kebabs which is poor for a high end hotel. The hotel is also looking a little tired. we will not be returning for a third visit.

returned from melia on 25th feb, room not as expected on arrival toilet not flushing at all, this should have been checked before we took over the room, towel rack come off it brackets which was not on the wall securely , put back on by staff but brackets still away from wall, fell off again, this time wall was redrilled, correctly. Mini bar was a real joke, just 2 cans of beer and 2 cans of coke, this is not a mini bar, almost had to beg for milk and when we got some staff turned up with milk in a water bottle, and then it was poured into a drinking glass instead of a carton, no kettle, just had to boil; water from a coffee maker, which took almost an hour to issue 1 cup of water for tea, again complained coffee maker changed, went onto the balcony closed the door to keep the coolness in then could not get back in, there was no handle on the door, had to force the door open, lagoon side of bungalow was not painted only in undercoat.
Other that that the rest of the hotel was fine except for the entertainment, a certain jazz bank was on 3times a week and would you believe they played the same tunes every time with the same routine, even to the part where two musicians danced with each other, rather boring, another act was a group of muscians came on miming palying cardboard giutars, drums and and organ.
as far as the food was concerned it was excellent well cooked and presented, and a good selection. staff was friendly and helpful

Extremely disappointing - No way 5 star
What a waste of a lot of money. Paid extra for a 'Superior Lagoon Room' in the Melia Cayo Coco, what a joke, we have stayed in better quality, cleaner and better beds in a hostel. Bedding, towels and beach towels were the worst we have every come across, and we travel eight times a year. Smelly Lagoon with flies, strangers fishing from your balcony was strange too. Very noisy building site right next door was awful. Staff were rude, when we complained they were rude too. Room and fridge and floor were filthy, we had to phone every day to have it cleaned on day eight ? Food was good in the buffet, but as usual no taste to any meat apart from the chicken. Italian restaurant need to visit Italy, A soggy pitta bread with cold tomato and melted triangle cheese does not make a pizza. Items were stolen from our room on more than one occassion but they didn't do anything about it. Beach was tiny and if it's windy just isn't there at all. We would not return to this hotel, and would never recommend it to anyone. No free wi-fi as promised. Water sports were good. WE got a taxi back to the airport and pais 25 CUC each for the VIP lounge for a bit of luxury before we left this nightmare.
