It’s clear to see why this ship is so popular - half of the external structure is glass, including the nine storey central atrium, which gives this beautiful ship its wow factor from the moment that passengers step aboard. The name-sake of the Radiance class of Royal Caribbean’s sizeable fleet, this ocean liner has recently benefited from a multi-million pound refurbishment to ensure that its facilities and finish match those found on any of its sister ships.

Destinations and itineraries
This ship tours the other side of the world beginning with seven night Alaskan cruise between Anchorage and Vancouver until the beginning of September when the ship starts its journey across the pacific to Australasia. The first stage is a ten night Hawaii cruise making three ports of call, Hilo, Kona, Lahaina, Nawiliwili and finally Honolulu.

From September 23, the Radiance of the Seas sets off on a Transpacific Cruise that makes seven ports of call and lasts for 17 nights on board. After five days at sea, the ship moors at Papeete in Tahiti, home of the Gaugin Museum, where the French painter immortalised the landscapes that visitors can still see today. Some of the islands that make up French Polynesia are visited next, Bora Bora and Moorea. A further four days at sea follow, including a day lost as the ship crosses the International Date Line. Eventually the ship arrives at Wellington in New Zealand, followed by Picton, famed for its Marlborough vineyards before moving onto Sydney.

Until November the Radiance of the Seas tours the coastline of Australia and New Zealand on cruises lasting between nine and 17 nights. The ship stays in the southern hemisphere until May on South Pacific cruises or tours of Australia including a circumnavigation between Perth and Sydney, along the Great Barrier Reef.

Set sail on one of the finest cruise ships in the business, onboard the Radiance of The Seas from Royal Caribbean International.

The public areas are equally spacious with plenty of deck space and three swimming pools - one with a sliding glass roof. There is a fitness centre that spreads over two decks and offers classes in yoga and Tai Chi. Miniature golf, a putting green and rock climbing are a regular addition to Royal Caribbean ships. There is also a jogging track a basketball court and a pool table. After all that physical exertion passengers can then unwind in the sauna and steam room.
Families can take advantage of the Royal Caribbean Adventure Ocean programme which includes supervised and organised activities. Distractions range from a video arcade and scavenger hunt to a dedicated splash pool and water slide. A new addition is the Royal Babies and Tots nursery featuring specially designed Fisher Price activities.

The range of staterooms on board ensures that there is something to suit every taste and budget - from interior cabins to two storey suites. There are 1050 staterooms, 577 of them have balconies and another 236 an ocean view. Cabins are reasonably sized, with twin beds that convert to a queen sized double. Each has a plasma TV, safe, minibar, vanity area with hair dryer and all bathrooms are tiled. Suites have bathtubs in the bathrooms and have the use of a butler service and access to a concierge lounge.

The dining options on board are more extensive since the ship’s multi-million pound refurbishment. The Cascades dining room extends over two levels connected by a sweeping staircase. With the capacity to cater for 1, 110 passengers, there are two sittings where good food is presented with friendly and efficient service. Alternative options now include the Samba Grill, a Brazilian steakhouse, a Mexican cantina, Giovanni’s, specialising in Tuscan cuisine, the Park Café. For a special treat passengers can book an evening at the chef’s table, restricted to 14 guests, promising the finest food and a very personal service. Old favourites such as Portofino, an intimate Italian restaurant, and the ever-popular windjammer café add to the choice.
The ship’s dress code is casual and comfortable during the day. Evening dress code can vary from smart casual to formal when a dinner jacket or dark suit is required of men, and ladies are expected to wear a cocktail dress.
After dinner entertainment is provided in the three tier Aurora Theatre, which presents West End style shows. Alternative entertainment is provided in a cabaret club. In addition there is a champagne bar, the Bombay Billiards Club, the Casino Royale, the Starquest Disco, the Schooner bar, champagne bar, atrium bar, and the Quill and Compass pub.
