Adorned with ornate cloisters, the monastery houses one of the world’s oldest pharmacies. Brimming with odd curios and antique jars, it’s still functional today: spot locals chatting to their chemist whilst holidaymakers gaze at the myriad of antiquities.

Choice artefacts from the pharmacy’s history are displayed in a museum, a charming exhibition that features medieval artworks and Renaissance manuscripts. A gorgeous courtyard dotted with orange blossom trees provides a lush retreat from the midsummer heat.
