I have spent 3 weeks from 16.11 - 06.12 in Delphin Imperial with my wife and son, because of the corona restrictions. We have upgraded to family deluxe room. Room was spacious, fancy designed with a jacuzzi at the balcony and great sea view. But , quality of the food , especially at the open buffet was really low and it was not acceptable. It was for us 5th time at the Delphin Hotels and such a buffet and low quality was really not to believe. Hotel sells itself as a Luxury Resort but has customer level way far from luxury. So, you can not feel yourself in a luxury resort then in a cheap city hotel. Hotel made a big mistake to stay open in corona days with cheap price policy and lowered the quality of the services as well. So, decisions show that management is on the wrong path. One day the corona will be over but such low quality will be always remembered. There are enough hotels , they did not close and kept their quality same.
Our first visit at Imperial was in 2013 (twice in that year actually), and back then we found it marvelous.
We returned 7 years later, and this happened because Be Grand was closed due to covid repercussions on traveling world wild. And we found it far away from the glamour it used to have. It was hard to rate, because many aspects were average to poor, but some were very good. I wish there was an option in between ‘average’ and ‘very good’ 😀.
Starting with the check in, it was quick, reception staff friendly and prompt. Even if we arrived pretty early, our room was ready much earlier than regular time.
Getting to the room, we started to obviously see that time passed over Imperial without any improvement or renovation. Everything looks old and poorly maintained. Bad looking furniture, very noisy mini bar (I reported the issue, but nobody cared so I had to unplug it every evening), an outdated tv, horrible pillows, very aged bathroom. The worse was the balcony door: opened or closed was same noise coming from outside as the rubber around the door frame did not exist any more! But, as we don’t use to spend too much time in the room, we did not take it as being the end of the world. We expected (room related) at least the cleaning to be up to standards, but it wasn’t, at all!
The resort itself is nice, big, several swimming pools available, but, same as the rooms, everything looks old and poorly maintained starting from the lobby and all the way to the beach. Even the cleaning of the resort (in all areas) is not the great.
Entertainment was nothing special, live music decent at times.
Food wise, Imperial offers very good food, variated, fresh, tasty! In the main restaurant, at most of the a la cart (except the far east cousine one which was terrible), at the outside facilities. A big plus for this. Particularly, we enjoyed the Turkish evening in the main restaurant, the Italian, Turkish, Spanish & Da Vinci a la cart, the grill station from outside and the chocolaterie. Beverages are variated enough, but, a proper menu should be created. For example, there are no details in the menu for imported drinks. It’s just written ‘imported’ and the category, so you have to go and stare at the bar shelves or ask the staff, which, by the way, is not the best for English talks.
The mobile app is pretty useless. I could not use it to do restaurant reservations, menus are not attached, etc.
Laundry service and hairdresser saloon are very good.
Photo shop: besides the fact that our photographer was not that experienced, the prices are absurd, specially when you see the quality of the final product. Even at the high end hotels in Turkey prices are lower, but quality amazing. And I don’t understand why they insist so much to buy printed photos when I said 10 times that I want them digital (they said that for printed + digital I will get a better prince than just for digital!!! non sense).
The service overall was a disaster! Besides reception staff and pool service, everybody was arrogant, ignorant and so on. Asking for drink and never getting it, getting the coffee at breakfast after 30 min, etc. Tips was not a motivation at all for them, guest orientation 0, literally a disaster.
Many thanks to Vedat from the Italian restaurant, who offered us a spotless service, always smiling and attentive. Same quality service we got at the Spanish restaurant, unfortunately I don’t remember the name of our waiter, but he was great.
No repeater guests treatment as Delphin used to do, even if it was our 7th visit at a resort from the chain.
Overall not very happy of our two weeks stay at Imperial, I am very sorry Be Grand was closed. That resort is 10 times better, Imperial should learn how to do things from his smaller sister!
I asked for a disabled room in advanced and when I arrived and they put me on the 5th floor room 5007, a mile down a hallway with no disabled facilities whatsoever, ruined my week as i couldn't leave the room and had to pay for room service 🥲😪
