We arrived to hotel Marhaba Palace on Friday by car. Directly at the entrance door they measured our temperature and we have to put a disinfection gel on our hands and also wear a face mask, it was due to covid19 pandemic. You can find disinfection gel almost everywhere at the hotel - toilette, reception, on every floor next to the elevator, there are also information posters at the reception hall regarding the symptoms of covid19 - what to do, how to behave etc.
We got a welcome drink at the reception while filling in the documents.
Room - we were 3 sisters , so we had 2 double rooms connected. It was nice , clean room, they changed the towels every day, the toilet and shower were cleaned, the air condition was working properly. There was a hair dryer and also dressing gowns.
Restaurant - we had all inclusive, the food was delicious, there were many types of meals, anybody can choose from the offer. I want to thank specially to the manager of the restaurant. He always take the best care about us. He gave us a nice table and always keep asking if we are okay, if we do not miss something etc. He was very polite & kind. Within all inclusive we had drinks and meals also from the beach bar and pool bar. The waiters were kind in the bars as well.
Beach - the beach was cleaned every morning around 7 am, I saw it by myself, coz I used to wake up earlier. If the security guys saw me , directly without asking he brought me a mattress to my sunbed and he was very kind, always with smile.
Pool - one of the pool is with salty water from the sea. I specially liked the sunbeds in the pool, they are very comfortable and you are not that hot when sunbathing.
Animation team - animators were very kind & polite, they announced every morning the program , they asked us to go for gymnastic, volleyball, darts , water polo etc. but they did not force us, what is great. If you said no, he did not asked you once again, he smiled and left. During the day they came to us and ask if everything is okay and they invited us for the night show. The showtime was absolutely great and professional. I liked the club dances and when they ask clients to take place at the show.
We loved & enjoyed this weekend in the hotel. I experienced one of the best services in Tunisia.
Rooms were clean, daily room service. Good variety of food and animations. Very proffessional animation staff. You can't get bored during the stay. Very nice service in the restaurant and in the bars. The weather was also good, however there was one rainy day. 5/5
Arriving at a hotel in the middle of a global pandemic left me unsure of what to expect. I have posted a balanced review but overall the hotel and the staff were absolutely wonderful despite being up against many challenges that Covid-19 has brought. If it is to this standard now, I can only imagine the excellence of when it is operating during normal times.
We were warmly greeted and shown to an immaculate room overlooking the pool and sea. (Take note as often pay more for sea vs pool view). The room was average size but had everything you need. Air conditioner was excellent. Beds comfortable, good shower and a separate toilet which is always nice.
The service each and every day was faultless. The waiting staff are friendly, warm, polite, funny, and professional. Nothing is too much trouble. In a short space of time they felt like friends. Special mention to Adel and Fethi, but everyone was wonderful. The lady serving delicious omelettes every morning was a joy also.
The food was delicious however by the end of the week I was getting bored of the same choices. I put this down to the situation at hand though and them trying to keep costs and menu’s manageable with the low numbers of guests.
The entertainment staff had a struggle on their hands as the hotel was very very quiet, with hardly any guests but they managed to get everyone involved of all ages and cultures. They put on a few entertaining shows throughout the week. I much preferred their shows to the ones put on by outside entertainers. They made everyone feel relaxed and were a pleasure to talk to during the day. Unsure of real names but “Max” and “Mono” were great characters.
Our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels and cute designs to the bedding and curtains.
The beach was cleaned every day and beach and poolside spotless. Pool bar open until 6pm and again very attentive.
Small indoor pool and entertainment room with billiards etc.
Fabulous massage at very reasonable prices. Whilst walking to the massage room I saw the gym which looked very good. I believe this is open to members and not just guests.
A few points I feel could have been easily improved despite the struggle faced by all staff during this pandemic - the bar and restaurant were without any background music unless there was a karaoke or musician playing. This could be easily fixed with a smart phone connected to a small speaker in the corner somewhere...it would add atmosphere and ambience. Also the music by the pool and used by the animation team were repetitive and dated. Still enjoyable but an easy fix to just add more songs and varied playlists.
The drinks selection for the all inclusive was a bit of a let down. The spirits used are not nice, and if you don’t like whisky, gin or vodka there is nothing else apart from beer or wine.
The room was non smoking, but if someone is smoking in the room next door, you can smell it strongly in your room. A big let down for me. I appreciate the staff can not control this as you are free to smoke on the balcony and anything else is hard to prove.
I would absolutely love to return to this hotel when it is running at full steam. I think it would be spectacular, and although I’ve noted a few downers, I have to take into account the unprecedented times that 2020 has brought and can only commend the hotel for how they have handled it.
Thankyou Marhaba Palace! We will return!!
