Luxury hotel
Aug 2020 |

Luxury hotel for a really cheap price. Very comfortable room and unexpected kind and friendly people. The breakfast was heavenly good, with a lot of Spanish dishes. The most impressive and beautiful thing was the design of each floor. Because each of 13 floor was different.

Surely the best hotel in Madrid.
May 2020 |

We’re huge European city break consumers, with the Cote d’Azur and all the Nordic capitals being at the top of our regular visits but we don’t really do Spain. We thought we should break the 20+ year absence from Spain with a trip to Madrid due to seeing the hotel on a Channel 4 travel show.

Each floor is themed to a different designer or architect.

We came more for the hotel than the city and the hotel did not disappoint. We took a Zaha Hadid suite and it was by some margin the most interesting hotel room we’re aver stayed in - an igloo sculpted in Corian, with the theme carried through to the bathroom featuring the largest bath I’ve ever seen.

We stayed in early March 2020, missing the coronavirus lockdown by a matter of days and given the time we spent in crowded tapas bars it seems we had a lucky escape.

The highlight apart from the hotel was a visit to the Museo Reina Sofía, mainly to see Picasso’s Guernica, but this proved to be one of the largest and most fascinating galleries we’ve ever visited.

Amazing experience - once in a lifetime
Feb 2020 |

We were so fortunate as had the amazing chance to experience the Presidential Suite at the hotel. The suite was amazing, with great views over the city. We also had access to the executive lounge which had a good selection of drinks and snacks.

The breakfast was lovely. Everything you could want. Cereals, bacon and eggs, croissants etc. You name it, they had it.

The only tiny disappointment was when we had a free welcome drink and went to get it and the lady behind the bar made no attempt to help us with the language. Very bizarre as we made an effort to talk Spanish. When another waiter brought the drinks he had unbelievable English. Perhaps the lady was having a bad day. That one disappointing experience was only small and everyone else we talked to was so helpful and accommodating.

Would definitely return to the hotel in the future as easy to get to the centre of Madrid from the close metro (Cartegena).

We got the 200 bus from the airport which stopped close to the hotel. 1.50 Euros each. Bargain.
