Very good value in an excellent hotel, only one small problem was with cold food that had been too long on the self service platters. Staff from reception to room service are helpful and caring.
I would recommend Barcelo hotel chain to everyone.
The main problem, considering the situation in Spain with the Covid-19, after a conversation with a member of staff, was to discover that they don´t do any tests or check regularly or after a working reinstatement to know if the staff is infected before to attend the hotel customers. This is ironic taking a look into the website messages were said "We care about you" "For us, you are a priority" or "Strengthened safety and hygiene protocols".
On top of this, with the mistrust and disappointment caused by trusting a hotel group which you hope will do these minimums to keep their customers safe, we experimented a shock situation in the restaurant of the hotel, an attempt to manslaughter. My son, while taking a dessert discovered a piece of glass inside of it, big enough to be seen, and deep enough to understand that it cames from the kitchen and it was not from an accident in the buffet.
After to inform the waiter, we sent a complain email to the management of the hotel. My surprise was the poor reaction from the manager that wrote the email, without showing any interest to the health of my son and justifying the big mistake with a compensation delivered of "water and chocolates" to my room. This shown the little empathy of the people that work in this hotel towards their customers, their lives, comfort and safety. In addition, a very little business perspective-taking in consideration that I´d have called the police for this incident of an attempt to manslaughter or a food sanitary inspector and hey should have closed the restaurant for at least that day.
Obviously, the time in the hotel was torture, we though to run away a few times before the check out day. But obviously we paid, and not cheap, to stay in this hotel. These events and the attitude of Management is unacceptable for any hotel, worse for a 4 stars hotel, and even dishonest because of this situation of the global pandemic we only wanted to relax in a safe place and enjoy our holidays, that they are obviously spoiled.
This hotel is pretty good value for money, the rooms are large and comfortable, the pools are luxury, the gardens well maintained. The kids club is excellent. The disappointment is the food (apart from the rice dishes at the pool bar) and the waiter service.
