We took the apartment because it looks more modern then the rooms and WOW!!
All new, super big apartment with a wonderful view and whatever you need!
Breakfast is great and the spa is amazing I recommend to do it!
The only downside is that the apartments are about 5 minutes walk down from reception but not big deal (just if you forget something in the room.. (
*September 2020 covid19 the hotel is
We had two nights here July 2020. Obviously things will be different due to covid-19 restrictions so I have taken that into account when writing this review. I hope I sound like I am being fair.
On arrival we were initially impressed with the hotel, the reception staff were welcoming. Gave us some direction re Covid rules (mask on in the hotel etc). Didn’t actually give much information about the hotel or it’s facilities though. Gave us a cardboard slip that gave spa access for us both to be used once during our stay.
The common areas of this hotel are lovely, lobby furniture, bar and decor are impressive. You can see they have spent money on the upkeep.
When you get to the rooms however, it’s a different story.
Bathroom was mouldy, strip lights hanging out from behind the mirror, mouse droppings on the edge of the bath (which we didn’t notice until the morning we were leaving as we had used the shower, not the bath).
The beds were among the most uncomfortable I have slept on in my whole life. I like a firm mattress but this was like sleeping on the floor.
The room information on the website said there was a pillow menu in the rooms, I would take that to mean different types of pillow available for your preference? Nope, not in this hotel. Long thin sausage shaped pillows, and when we called reception to ask for some different pillows (as these were giving me ear ache) they sent two more of the same ones up again. The poor lady that brought them up didn’t speak English, and my Spanish isn’t good enough to explain so we just tried to make do with them.
Very bad sleep for two nights.
We did make use of the spa card that we were given, took our swimming gear over in case we were allowed in there and then, but we expected to book and return later. It was a nice surprise to be told that we could come in right away. Not so nice to be told we had to pay €10 deposit each for a towel. We didn’t have cash on us, so had to leave my credit card as a security deposit (?!)
90 mins max in the spa, no treatments available for the entirety of our stay, (they said fully booked, not a covid restriction) so imagine our surprise when we entered and there was one other person in the whole place.
The website says the evening meal is a full buffet, this was understandably not happening with Covid restrictions, so they had an a la carte menu available in the restaurant. The choices were very few, and uninspiring. We are mediocre food for our first evening meal, then breakfast was much the same. The waiter dropped our desserts, and left the broken glass on the floor for about 10 minutes. After a half hearted attempt to clean it, with other staff and customers stepping over the shards, I went and picked up the larger pieces with my hands as there was glass on the floor next to a table with two small girls.
The food in the bar seemed much better value, and the full menu was on in the bar, so I think they could have gone to a bit more of an effort in the main restaurant as it all comes from the same kitchen.
There was no information in the rooms apart from a QR code that brought up the room service menu.
Nothing about the spa, nothing about the other restaurants or facilities available on site, nothing about the pillow menu, minibar prices, golf activities... all things I would expect in a self billed 5 star golf and spa resort.
We would absolutely not stay here again. On checking out the receptionist didn’t ask how our stay was, that was the deciding factor in writing this review. Had he asked, I would have told him directly. Nobody seemed interested in us as customers at all. The only saving grace staff member was the barman who was very friendly and seemed to be the only person there that actually enjoyed his job.
We stayed 10 days on half board with reduced green fees for the golf . This resort offers one of the best Spa and fitness experience we ever had all included especially the fully equipped fitness center with coaches. We enjoyed the amazing breakfast and dinner buffet every day. The room is spacious and has a balcony with loungers with views over the pool, the golf course and the sea in the distance.
Very helpful and polite staff. We can’t wait to return.
