We stayed 5 nights at this hotel and would happily stay here again. The best features were the excellent location and the reasonable pricing. We really enjoyed this part of Barcelona.
LOCATION: The location was fabulous. It was the first time we’d been to Barcelona so we couldn't be sure if we had chosen a good spot. However we couldn’t have been more pleased. The hotel is in a very attractive part of the historic Gothic quarter, the sort of area where you can wander and explore interesting lanes. Great restaurants, tapas bars and shops were all within walking distance and the area felt safe to walk around in the evening. The lovely little square, Placa del Pi and the Santa Maria del Pi church are right on the corner.
The main street, Las Ramblas and the famous La Boqueria market are both a 3 min walk away. This turned out to be a huge plus for us because in the morning, we often walked across to the market for breakfast and a fresh juice (we loved Bar Pinotxo).
Getting to the hotel was very easy. On arrival at the airport, we caught the Aerobus to Placa Catalunya and walked. Even with our bags and having to stop to check the map, it was less than a 10 min walk.
SERVICE: Service was consistently good. We were very warmly greeted on arrival and were offered a complimentary glass of cava. It was my first taste of this sparkling Spanish wine (and definitely not my last). Staff at the desk were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, providing tips on where to eat, helping us with directions for sight-seeing and marking out the best routes out on our map.
ROOM: The room was spacious enough that we didn’t feel as if we were tripping over our two big suitcases. The pale blue feature wall and light coloured timber floor gave the room an airy, bright look. It felt fresh and clean.
The bed was comfortable but it was two beds pushed together, which is never quite as good as one queen. If this is something that would bother you, I'd suggest checking on the bed arrangement when you book. Other rooms might be different. Despite the proximity to Las Ramblas, our room was quiet at night.
The bathroom was clean and a good size, with a combined bath/shower. There was a generous supply of complimentary toiletries which they replenished during our stay.
The one thing missing, was tea/coffee-making facilities in the room. Complimentary tea, coffee and pastries were offered in the downstairs bar area but only from midday. We used this a couple of times and the bar was a pleasant space to sit and they had a good coffee pod machine but we still missed having a kettle in our room.
Wifi was excellent.
FACILITIES: Breakfast was available for an additional cost. I can’t comment on it because we usually like to head out early so we skipped breakfast here.
Found this hotel online and what a wonderful surprise. We were in Barcelona for three days before a cruise and this was a great spot to be. A little hard to find as it is tucked into a small street in the gothic area with narrow winding streets, but that is not a negative. It is a small hotel and the staff was superb, with the front desk person acting also as concierge. We were greated with a lovely glass of cava and it just got better from there. The rooms were quite nice and well-equipped. Breakfast, not included, was delicious and well worth the cost. Best of our trip! Made to order omelets from the kitchen and delicious yogurt. We could explore the entire gothic area on foot as well as many adjacent spots. Taxis were readily available (had to be called by the hotel) and it was close to major arteries. Would highly recommend this hotel!
I stayed 6 nights during my visit to Barcelona. It was a pleasant experience! The best thing about this place are the staff who were the nicest and most helpful people! One of the highlights of my trip!
The hotel is surrounded by uncountable shops, cafes, restaurants and attractions. The cathedral is walking distance away. There is a train station and a church nearby.
It can get a tad bit noisy sometimes! Otherwise a really good choice for your stay in Barcelona.
