We were travelling as a family in St Lucia for Christmas and New Year. Our base was Rodney Bay, we chose Marigot Beach because of its unique location. Chelsea booked us in and arranged our transfer all had to be covid certified for us to stay with the restrictions. As the little ferry took us across the water to our destination we felt special. We booked entry level accommodation which adequate for our needs had a lovely little terrace with a pretty view. We booked in for New Years Eve dinner and the hotel went to great lengths making it a memorable night with little prizes given out.
Breakfast was lovely served cooked to order with plenty of choice.
There is so much that is so unique about this place, it has a little track to lift guests up the steep hill in comfort. A nature track to the peak gives a superb view of the entire bay.
We had fun swinging from the palm tree into the sea. On the beach are locals selling food, cold drinks and souvenirs. We had a little lunch bar b que which they cooked for us. Roosters running about which I heard from 5am.
If I am next in St Lucia I imagine if money is spent on this hotel I will be priced out from staying as it will be a place only the super rich can afford to stay. The owner welcomes all to his unique hotel it was magical.
We were lucky enough to use miles to redeem a 3 night, half board stay.
First the Pros: The location is Paradise. Because we had breakfast and dinner included in our package, we were so happy to find out that the food was delicious - fresh and well prepared (there is an upcharge for the more expensive items on the menu, such as a whole lobster, which I had twice - it was so good. The staff could not have been friendlier and more accommodating. Special shoutout the the guys who were harvesting coconuts for filling our bottle with fresh, delicious coconuts milk - without us even asking for it!!! Also, Vanessa at the dive shop made our two-hour kayak trip to the hidden mangrove so special and fun!! The front desk also booked our car tour to Tet Paul, The Pitons, Volcano and Sapphire Falls & Jungle Spa with Treasure Tours, which was absolutely spectacular.
Ok, the Cons: We stayed in one of the Firefly Studios and it is in dire need of updating. There was zero space in the bathroom for anything, the shower was tiny, old with cracked tiles - not even a place to put soap. The room also felt shabby. We also had a problem with our key and the door not fully locking for 2 days. However, we felt safe and were re-assured that our important belongings were locked in the safe.
However, as soon as we opened the doors to the balcony, none of it mattered because the view is that phenomenal. Pics attached to this review.
If you are looking for a quite place right now during our "new normal" to relax and enjoy beautiful Caribbean water - you will find your home at Marigot Bay. The location is amazing - the views from the Panorama units are wonderful . The resort staff are friendly and do a wonderful job. I spent Christmas at the resort - and it was one of the most fun and festive nights I remember! The rum punch is the best I've had and the grilled lobster is a must try. The atmosphere is very welcoming and as as single traveler - i always felt very safe and comfortable. This resort is a true hidden gem. In the world of all inclusive "corporate" properties- its refreshing to know that there are places like this still around. - Thanks David!
I'm looking forward to my next trip to Marigot Bay!
Also- if you have the resort arrange for transportation - ask for Fred to pick you up. He's very friendly driver and happy to share his local knowledge.
