The staff, from reception to the room service at Pestana Bay are doing a fantastic job welcoming people who come from United Kingdom, for self isolation, very well, following all the Covid19 protocol very clearly, professionally and efficiently.
I'm not sure that many people are aware of this, but this is a very complicated situation to everyone and they are actually dealing with it very well.
Well done and thank you.
All Pestana Hotels in Madeira are closed accept the Charlton which you don't find out till your transfer driver picks you up so everyone booked in these hotels are taken there it is a 5star hotel but I have had better food and a lot better choice of food in 3 star hotels we have paid for all inclusive and this hotel is not set up for it
If you have been swimming and don't want to change to eat in the main restaurant the pool side bar does a wide range of food for the paying guests but AI guest have a choice of cheese, tuna or chicken baggette the first 2 days we did get fries with this but today they said we would have to pay for them we said we hadn't paid for them before so they gave them to us. You are being made to feel second class persons for being AI
That aside the rooms are lovely and pool and grounds beautiful staff friendly
Being on the 15th floor the view is great but because of covid only 3 people allowed at a time in the lift it can take a while to get your room
We went in March. The weather was warm and sunny. We were on the top floor. It was wonderful to sit on the balcony and look out to sea with nothing blocking the view. The room was spacious and clean. You can hear the sea at night. The staff were helpful and helpful. The only downside was the fact that everything is open plan...You come into reception, then into the bar area and then into the restaurant. There is only one bar area and it gets a bit noisy. The guests were mainly British and German. Unfortunately, due to the outbreak of the virus, there was no entertainment. The food was generally good. We liked the way it had been cooked. We went all inclusive. There is a shuttle bus into Funchal. You can walk about 3 miles to the next village, as it is a little bit away from the town. We would go again.
