This place is amazing if you’re going to go to Funchal I highly recommend you go to Enotel it has a big swimming pool outside and an 8 ball pool Table indoors and a mini fake forest also inside not forgetting the hotel is in a good location.
Should have been staying for a week in March but regrettably Coronavirus cut all that short so we flew home 4 days early. But - we'll be back. Nice location right on the lido, quite a step into town but it's a pleasant walk. Room nice, huge bed (ok 2 pushed together but all fine) and well maintained with balcony with side sea view. Pool area good BUT - the pool is surrounded by a rougher concrete path but then you are straight on to tiles which are fine with dry feet but lethal with wet ones. I went down like a ton of bricks and a more frail person may well have broken something. The hotel really need to sort this out and replace all the pool side tiles. Pool also unheated but that's often the way of things, and it was only mid-March.
Food was unquestionably the best of any all inclusive we've stayed at. Not stupid amounts of choice as you sometimes get, but prepared with care and kept properly hot, not tepid as is often the case. Also, very unusually, a good selection of well cooked vegetables rather than over cooked frozen stuff.
Reception, bar, and restaurant staff all lovely and helpful.
Our first experience of Madeira and such a shame it was cut short as it is a beautiful island and we didn't get to experience it properly. Will be the first place we return to when the crisis is over and will definitely come back to the Enotel lido.
Thanks to all the staff and hope they all come through the crisis unscathed and that we see them all again.
Just returned from our yearly visit to this hotel . Can recommend it very highly from the friendly and helpful reception staff (not always the case in hotels!) and dining room staff . There were 5 of us in our party and when ordering coffees and drinks from the sports bar they immediately offered to take them to us at our sun beds ( incidentally there was none of this silly reserving going on)and plenty of beds. March anyway - not been in summer. Spacious rooms , extremely comfortable beds and quiet !! Older clientele at this time of year. Food excellent and ‘extra’ restaurants very enjoyable. Particularly enjoyed the Brasserie and Japanese. Italian also upped its game since last year - very good. Will be ASAP. Our thoughts are with you and staff. We returned home the day before the ‘closedown’ in Madeira!
