A wonderful relaxed break
Nov 2020 |

We arrived at the beginning of November for a week and it was a brilliant choice of hotel. The location was absolutely beautiful, with a harbour, a lagoon to swim in, palm trees, and a beach. The sea view rooms at this hotel just had the most beautiful view out.

The staff were excellent, nothing more could be said. The only time they struggled to give really good service was when we were waiting in our room for our Covid-19 tests to come through so we have already suggested to the hotel that putting drinks in the fridge and some snacks in the room on day 1 during this present time would help both the hotel guests and the hotel room service staff! The room service on day 1 was very good from a food point of view.

The quality of the food was excellent, always something to choose that we liked. The coffee machines were the best we've come across - everyone has to try the cappuccino!

The evening entertainment was very good too, and when we suggested an additional song from the 80's to the male singer, he incorporated it into his next show - excellent!

One small negative - not much storage space, only 2 drawers in the room, so an extra couple of drawers would have helped tremendously. However, all in all, we were very happy with this hotel and would definitely return and recommend to others.

Excellent service from outstanding staff
Nov 2020 |

Firstly, I must echo what other people have said about the staff, They were, without exception, excellent and demonstrated the kind of customer care in practical terms that one would expect to be theoretically taught as the exemplar for the industry. The location is as stunning as the photographs portray and we will endure this awful Covid winter with happy memories of awe-inspiring sunsets from the bar area, complete with a suitable liquid salute. The food is extremely well presented and freshly cooked, albeit, because of Covid restrictions, a little difficult for the staff to serve. But they coped extremely well. The drinks were standard all-inclusive and again, served promptly and with a smile. The room ( I do recommend a sea view) was well equipped with a very good shower and a very comfortable bed. We hired a car and so were able to visit some of the highlights of the island and parking was immediately across the road, cost circa £40 and was handled by reception. All in all, as well- seasoned travellers, we were extremely impressed with the overall experience and would highly recommend a stay at this hotel. A point for consideration by the management. Whilst the Covid crisis continues and people are confined to their rooms for up to 12 hours pending clearance, may I suggest that you pre-load the rooms with a bottle of red and white wine, two wine glasses, a few cans of beer and some nibbles (crisps/nuts etc). I know that the staff do a marvelous job serving a meal and drinks when requested but it would be a welcome surprise for guests and perhaps take the strain off the staff a little.

Calheta Beach Hotel
Nov 2020 |

Beautiful hotel with staff that are calming, respectful, welcomeing and who want you to enjoy their beautiful island. Our holiday was cut short by jet2, but, I will be returning to Maderia as soon as I can. The sea and harbour view from my balcony were so lovely. Food and drinks were great and served to us with all the proper covid19 safety measures. Covid19 test at Maderia airport results were sent via email within 12 hours. As we isolated waiting for our results, the hotel provided a 3 course meal and drinks via room service. Hotel provided a kettle for the room, I just had to ask at reception. Hairdryer in bathroom was great ..I didnt need to use my own. Bed was kingsized, bathroom was giantic, shower was rainfall and hand held extention. Hotel provides all towels including beach towels, and even shower and hand washing gels in wallpumps in bathroom. Theres plenty of hand santizers around the hotel..so I felt really safe and cared about. I had lovely walks around the harbour and along the beach. All in all, I know I will go back to see the stuning Calheta Beach Hotel and the beautiful island of Maderia again. X
